Hey! Let's mod our beloved Benzos too!
I think I'll get a Renntech ECU Upgrade tuning for my SL and a Hamann or Hartge or even Dinan to ECU tune my M5!
Then we'll see who's faster!

Z's are SLOW... E550 or CLK550 with non amg V8 would smoke a moded (bolt ons) Zs any day...

1/4 mile time doesn't really mean anything... CLK550 has the new 5.5L V8 making 382HP and 391lb-ft torque. Z makes about what?? 320ish even with bolt on??
Z's are nice cars but I don't think they are fast...

Yes. I think E550 (382hp / 391 tq) WILL smoke the Z.... If you had a close call with a car that makes 362hp, you'll lose to E550..
Many of my friends have Zs and I drove them and raced them (autox)...
I know u don't want to hear this but they are pretty slow..

What other standard non-AMG MB V8's or V-6, 1-4's? Standard or modded? Not clear because I was implicating about modifiying our own benzos (ie, my AMG SL and M5).
So yes, some modification to non-AMG MB V8's, or V6's and 1-4s will allow it to run high 12s and low 13s quite easily.
Just get some ECU tuning and that's done!
And yes, them 350Zs especially, are becoming pests!
Time to rip them apart on the street... let's see... either I can choose the SL or the M5.

Only 5.0L V8 known to run low 13's is the AMG E50.

Man, I'm gettin tired of responding to this video....
1) a 5.0 E500 with a 7G will have no problem hanging with a 350z. 0 - 60 in 5.5 and q/m in 14flat @ 100 ain't going to be getting left behind anytime soon. A flawlessly driven '07 with the VQHR will be slightly quicker (13.6 - 13.7 @103ish) but '03 - '06 350z can get beatin on the street by a E500/CLK500, esp if the Z isn't a 6spd or driven well.
2) That 540 is the slowest possible 540 you could ever run. (Non-sport autotragic M62TU). If I go and put the beat down on a auto 350z Vert and start talkin smack what does that mean?
3) The race should be apples to apples.. 6spd vs. 6spd stock vs. stock or modd'd vs. modded.
4)

Out of this list 3 cars managed to pull 12's on a N/A motor (http://www.dragtimes.com/Nissan--350Z-Drag-Racing.html). One of them was on a 100shot Nitrous and the 2nd one could hardly be considered as minor bolt on mods only... http://www.dragtimes.com/Nissan-350Z-Timeslip-5220.html

my money would be on the E550 stock for stock. They can trap 108mph in the q/m. Doubt a '07 Z will be trapping that high. Maybe 105 - 106mph if it's driven flawlessly & probably like 103ish driven by average driver.
I've raced a E550 and got my *** whooped & I've raced a modd'd '03 VQ35 6spd Maxima which weight like 3300lbs and was able to pull on him. I don't know what power mods he might've had but extracting 275 - 280HP from VQ35 isn't difficult. Factory rating was like 255 - 260 that year iirc.
