Got my *** handed to me..
Not that I was'nt expecting it but I should of known better.. I opened my mouth to a new BMW 3.35i about racing him.. So we line it up and instead of going from a 40mph roll like I should have we went from a dig.. We both nail it on the third honk and he instantly pulls 4 cars away from me as my car fights the traction control.. Once the T/C kicked off at 45mph I reeled him in but he cut the race short and I lost by 1 car.. Everyone who saw the race was laughing when we came back.. They all go to me "Here is the point at where we all realized your car had no traction" and they show me a spot 150ft past the start.. LoL "Thats when you started to reel him in HARD!!"
Things I learned:
1.) I ever race in 30 degree weather again it will be from a 40mph roll.
2.) My car needs very sticky tires to race from a stop.
3.) BMW 3.35's are fast but I would of whooped his *** if the car actually had traction (here is the part where we open our mouths and say 90% of races are lost because of driver skill/error)
All the way home I was testing at what point I could nail the car at WOT on a roll and not have the tires break traction.. Yea that point was 40mph.. DAMN I LOVE THIS CAR!!!

Mmm, I think the most common way to launch these high torque cars on the forum is gently roll on the accelerator until it starts moving and then nail it.
Read the E55/E63 forums. You'll get lots of insight on how to launch these cars perfectly. I think there's a member with an '03 S600 that posts regularly on the E55 forums too.

lol I raped a 335 in my S500.
Your car is a 500 hp beast
Did you turn your ESP off ?
Even if the BMw will be there b4 zero to 60. At 70-100 your car will be miles ahead. Its all about the torque.
When did you guys cut of the race?

Nope didnt turn the T/C off.. I figured it would help me since we were starting from a stop.. Big mistake.. Once the T/C kicked out I caught him very easily.. If we actually ran a full 1/4 mile race I would of beat him by 2 or 3 cars easy but he cut out at around 80mph, slammed the brakes and took the first turn right when I got to his bumper..
Now i just noticed this car has 265/40/18's on the rims.. Yea the Potenza's are gone next week and im putting a set of same sized M/T Drag Radials on the back.. I hate street tires.. I went from a 550hp AWD Eclipse with drag radials as my street toy to this car which will henceforth be known as the tractionless wonder.. LoL Until I put the drag radials on that is..

1)
-S500 weight: 4133 lbs
- 335i weight: 3561 lbs.
--> S500 about 600 pounds heaver (~572)
2)
-S500: 302 hp and 339 lb-ft tq (at 2700 rpm)
-335i: 300 hp and 300 lb-ft tq (at 1400 rpm)
-off the line, 335i has advantage with the low end torque
-335i's are underrated from the factory. most dyno stock in the high 270s and 280s.
3)
-S500 15.1 @ 98 mph
-335i: 13.6 @ 104.3 mph
--> both figures come from motortrend
im calling bullsh*t on this one. sorry.
either your S500 isnt stock, you didnt race a 335i but a poser with the badges, or the 335i wasn't racing.
oh, and with regards to the 0-60 time, that is more of a figure for gearing and traction. An STI can do 0-60 in the low 4s while a C32 in the low 5's and both trap at about the same speed. STI's are geared more for acceleration and get more grip.
Also, at 70-100 you are still wrong. torque is what gets you off the line or "out of the hole". horsepower is what achieves you the top speed in the 1/4 mile or faster speeds.
do your research before you post

the most common mod employed on those car is a piggyback. There are many, including the JuiceBox, Vishnu (V2), Xede, and Procede. The $390 JuiceBox Tune has proven gains of 45+ whp and 55+ wtq. A V2 on pump gas can dyno in the 400 hp alone. these cars are not slow.

I had a big post on these kill forums a few months back where I killed a 335i.
It was a very clean race. We went from like 45-130+. I had him by at least 2 lengths at the end. This was in my CLK500 with no performance mods at all (just had my 19" chrome rims and a subwoofer in the trunk).
KwickSC...its all about throttle control . Learn to roll into the throttle. Don't get nervous and mash it. Just roll into it or even keep it 3/4 throttle until you feel you can get the tires to hook. Your 600 is a monster and should kill a 335.

Screw throttle control.. I come from a world where I set the air pressure for 19 psi, bake the tires for 15-20 seconds then launch the auto out the hole at 3000 rpms on the bottle.. Or using the 2 step on my 5spd and side stepping the clutch at 6500rpms.. THAT'S my throttle control The Benzo needs new rear tires anyhow so im throwing a set of 265/40 DR's on there to replace the rock hard Potenza's
The S600 would of killed the 3.35 even with a 4 car lead if he didnt cut the race off by what I judge was less than the 1/8th mile..

The S600 has more torque so I'm sure its harder to launch. You have small rear wheels on and probably worn tires so that makes it much worse. The lack of LSD on the S600 is also a travesty. Too bad the guy didn't want to play and shut down. You would have massacred him.

I find this all very hard to believe. I drive a 335i auto. I have beaten a 03' CLK55 in my 335i (stock) 0-120, 40-120, we did several runs. On the books the CLK55 0-60 is around 5.2 while the 335i is 4.8. The CLK55 is however faster than the CLK500 and of course the S500.
