You guys are going to hate me EVEN more!!! LOL!!!
So I know this is an mb forum, and I have a lot of love and respect for it and MB, because I have been around MB for a long time. Out of my assorted euro trash, I have a 1991 VW GTI. It started it's life as an 8v, but I had a rallye g60 motor out of an original 1989 golf rallye fully built and swapped in. The car currently puts down 276whp on 19lbs of boost. Mind you, the car only weighs 1996 lbs. I was cruising around Denver a few nights ago and I came across two guys driving what I soon found to be a 2003 CLK55 and a 2006 E55. They were actually really good friends and we got to chatting afterwards. I drove by them on the interstate and they immediately came up to me. We did a 2nd gear pull and I had them both by almost 2 car lengths. I quit at 5th gear doing about 120. The CLK had headers, exhaust and ECU work. The E55 had headers and exhaust. Here's a pic of the black beauty![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Here is a pic of the swap when it was underconstruction. I even had the original rallye intercooler. It's HUGE!

The two guys were really nice and appreciated the old skool euro

MBWorld Fanatic!
Apparently the E55 driver was also a nubcake. I am not going to flame you, a kill is a kill. But deep down I know that you know as well that if the E55 driver knew what he was doing you would not be posting this as a kill.
First off let me tell you that I am not saying this out of the blue.
I raced a stock W209 CLK55 when I was Stage1 and I pulled him by 2-3 cars, he is on these forums by the way, but dunno his name.
I never raced a W211 E55, but that's because it would eat me like candy. There is no way you could of pulled both cars by the same length at the same time, unless 1.) E55 was badged or 2.) He didn't learn how to drive his car![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)
Good kill! But remember it was a driver kill nawt car kill lawlz![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
What are your 1/4 stats? I would guess high to mid 12's with a lower than avg. trap speed in relationship to the time.

Well, the story is very odd, but wrt his car, if his numbers are on the level, he'd easily beat either car....stop and think for a second: an E55 typically puts down 420-ish rwhp and weighs about 4200 pounds, or 10 pounds per rwhp.
He says that his car is putting down 276 whp and weighs 1996 pounds. This gives him 7.23 pounds per rwhp. That's the same as a C6 Z06. So this car should be able to trap in the 125+ range with that weight:power ratio (the Hale equation puts it at 127, but I'm hedging). A stock E55 would get hammered by a car that light with that much power...up at very high speeds the E55's horsepower advantage would give it an advantage as drag force becomes the dominating factor, but down low this thing would definitely kill if producing those numbers.
***HOWEVER***, the story is extremely fishy, because as kindafast points out, if the three of these cars were to line up *and* the VW is making advertised horsepower at average weight, you'd have a different result, namely VW in front, E55 in second, quite a ways back, and CLK55 a very distant third.
There's no way a CLK55 could run that close to an '06 E55, unless it was supercharged, or if the E55 had something wrong with it, or was running with parking brake on, or using 84 octane gas, or had something else wrong with it...
So from a numbers perspective, your killing an E55 is quite plausible...however, the outcome you describe is not at all plausible: with that power-to-weight advantage you should be much further than two cars out on an E55, and a CLK55 would be a distant speck.

The car would have much better top end if I was turbo, not supercharged. If turbo was the case, the outcome would have been much greater up top. The motor runs stock mahle forged internals. I did not drop compression any lower because it has great response through 4th, without losing itself. If I turn boost up more, it spins all day long. It's such a fun car.

1.52 rt, 11.6@127, and that was a miracle run
They were both good drivers. I figured people would make the assumption that the car I "really" put the kill on was the E55. I would think everybody would know the 211 would hurt the 209...

sounds just about right......light car (2K lbs) with 270 to the wheels, no doubt a fast *** car......nice runs!

One thing I hadn't thought of is that the E55k would take a performance hit at 5200' in Denver, which is where I assume this all transpired (Denver, Mexico, yes?). Of course, otoh so would the CLK, so I'd still think the E would stomp it pretty good.
