Had a run in with one of your ilk today (C32)
I would like to see a W208 vs. the RS4. I'm pretty confident the quattro advantage would help it off the line and the HP advantage will keep it pulling up top.
In the end though, I would still take the RS4. It's a work of art that car...
Its a 4door sedan with awd. The R8 is a different exotic looking car. But for the price its underpowered.
I say the CLK55 will give a stck RS4 hell up top.

To be honest, I didn't understand what all the hoopla was about until I took delivery of mine and had it for a few days. There is more to life than straight line speed. And I've got the B5 for that kind of fun anyhow.

RS4 with a Milltek Catback did a 12.5 @ 110 on 93 octane.

I'll be taking it to the 1/8 in a couple weeks, hopefully with Vomit here, and we'll see what mine does bone stock.

I'm just expressing my opinion newbie.
Like I said the RS4 looks like any 4door Audi to most people. Plus its underpowered for its price.

The B5 S4 Motor has been show to be able to take 22-28 PSI allday long......cast iron block takes a pounding and has been shown to be reliable up to 600+ HP. I run anywhere from 19-22 PSI on mine.....and it has been a trouble-free daily driver for the last 65k miles (since I went K04s and running "higher boost")

...and your CLK55 looks more like a regular CLK than the RS4 does an A4. There's actually not much shared between an A4 and RS4... different interior, door panels, side skirts, trunk lid, quarter panels, hood, engine, transmission, differentials, brakes, springs, shocks, sway bars, grilles, bumpers, exhaust, gauge cluster, wheels, side mirrors, trim, steering wheel... headlights, switches, and stereo are the same though!
When you think about how low in volume the RS4 is, and how many one-off parts Audi (quattro GmbH) made for it... it helps explain the price. Sure, I still wouldn't pay the nearly $79k sticker that my RS4 has on it, but it's still a pretty special car when you actually know a thing or two about it. It received the accolades and recognition that it did in the automotive press for a reason... just like the CLK63 black isn't just a "regular" Mercedes, or even a "regular" AMG.
