CTS v CLK 63
FYI today at a traffic light I pulled up behind a CTS with with at least headers and custom mufflers. I will assume it was also tuned - - - it did sound really nice. On the green light the CTS pulled away a bit quicker than the surrounding traffic and I simply followed him rather closely. I suppose he simply figured I was some old Florida fart in a common Benz. So, the CTS punched it (really really sounded great) and jumped about 2 car lengths. I was in 2nd gear in Sport mode with the ESP off and at about 3000 revs, too low on the power curve and the CTS got another length on me. As soon as the CTS got the jump he flipped me the bird and waved to me. OOPS! As soon as the 6.3 got into the cams I started to reel him in rather nicely. I closed to within 1 car length, but even though it was a 6 lane divided road it was 10:30 AM with all the moms off to Whole Foods, so I shut it down at around the century mark. The CTS kept going and never slowed down enough to at least see WTF was that. I guess he has a new understanding of OBJECTS IN MIRROR APPEAR CLOSER THAN THE ARE or don't ever look back, you might see what gaining on you

Your are correct sir or madam! I never said nor implied "V." Again proving that assumption is the mother of all (I'll be kind) screw-ups. It's refreshing to know that some people actually do pay attention.
Let's hope that GM will continue to produce and develop the CTS-V (now I said it) and the ZR-1. Really good stuff, but really poor management.

And you wasted your gas on a normal CTS?
And you mentioning a CTS does not imply a V series when challenged by a 63 AMG?
If you say so.

He does own a 211. He probably just forgot which section he was in. Give the dude a break.
It seems to me that it probably was a CTS-V. There is no way that a regular CTS would even remotely give the 63 a good run unless it was modded out the a** and on the bottle.
Anyways, nice run

470bhp would make very quick work of any non-V CTS, even if modded

All i have to say is i agree with Audi-Guy about a german car sounding better than an american car. I just love listening to my 560SEC, or 500E V8 rawr when i hit the gas to 100. The american car sounds like crap compared to my V8.

lol. definitely can't tell if it is tuned by looking at it. some people are really familiar with exhaust sounds though and can tell what a car has headers. much different sound (compare stock exhaust LS1 to catback LS1 to LS1 with headers, definite differences IMO). as far as mufflers? idk....more difficult to know without walking right up and looking at it.

Caddy reminds me true muscle car sounds from the 60's.
Similar to that classic soundtrack of Steve McQueen's Bullit.

I love the way my RS4 sounds in all of its 8250RPM glory, but I'll still take the growl of an LSx motor any day.
As far as six-cylinder engines go, I agree that the Germans have the audible advantage... but V8s? Not quite there because, generally, they're just too small (AMGs being the exception)
