Great race, got killed, SL55 AMG.
I was at Importaciones de la Ciudad del Río in Jeffersonville, Mexico around 10:30am today looking to see if dutch had any spare m104 coil packs I could borrow to see if that was the root of my 3 and 4th gear ignition problems. While I was wrenching on the ignition cover to replace the coil packs an SL55 AMG owner was passing by to retrieve his ride and commented on my setup.
"Thats the biggest turbo I've ever seen on a diesel benz. Who did that for you?"
Me - "Its actually an E320, its gas powered and coverted to turbo by myself."
"Wow, you did all that by yourself?"

I learned this dude was only 21 and had a freakin SL55 AMG, NOT FAIR .
Naturally I asked him for a roll race and after I had the coil pack cover back on we set out on the highway. I already had it in my head that I was going to get tossed like an asain shrimp dinner and rolled like a chimichanga but I never give up a free race.
Out on the highway we crawled at a snails pace of 15mph and into first we both went. He did the honks and I got the jump by a fender, which almost made me cream my pants . No one gained or lost ground until the 40mph gear change we both required. He clicked into gear seamlessly while I pedaled back and stomped back on it to prevent tranny slipage from occuring. At this, he jumped ahead of me and his rear wheels where next to my driver window. At 70mph I donkey-punched the redline, hard, and pedaled into 3rd and was now sitting 1/2 car behind his rear. Ive been missing at 85mph recently but to my surprise the coil packs did the trick and I stayed 1/2 a car behind him to 110mph when I let off.
The best part about this is I am going to race another SL55 AMG this or next weekend on camera with my new 3" exhaust and water injection on. Should be even more interesting

Thanks tommy and I can, mechanical boost controller ftw.
My junk is tuned 2 18psi but i dont go up there w/o water inj. In under 2 weeks it will b running 14psi daily with a straight through muffler on a 3" exhaust v my current rich running 11psi and 2.5 to triple pass baffled muffler. Not safe 2 run a lot of boost all the time on a restrictive 2.5".

I'm wondering if I could swap a 722.4 4 speed auto or a cossie getrag 5 speed manual in it, those two trannies can handle a ton of power.
I could easily do the 4 speed but come on, a manual e320 sounds plain sick!
