I was stopped at the lights and see a black R8 turning right, on to my road. Light turns green so I chase after it to see if he wants to play. I catch up to it at the next lights. Meanwhile I put my transmission into S mode, suspension on comfort setting and sit there, patiently waiting for a green. To my surprise though, as the light turns green, he doesn't go, he actually proceeds on driving the speed limit. I got bored and decided to leave him alone. As I get to the next light, I see him speed up behind me and dart into the lane beside me. I knew it was on. Having raced a couple of V8 R8s, I knew that it will be close race to about 80 km/h and then I would start pulling away. So the light turns green, I get a full car length jump on him out of the hole. To my surprise, at 60 km/h he starts pulling and at 120 km/h he is already a car length ahead! I merge behind him on the next lights and as the light turn green he goes slow again, so I down shift turn ESP off and jump into a lane beside him to try and overtake. As soon as he sees me do that, he nails it. This was from 40 km/h roll and we went to about 160 km/h and he managed to pull a good 3-4 car lengths on me even though I had the momentum. All this time I'm telling myself, it can't be stock, it can't be stock, it can't be stock, lol. I pull up to him on the next lights and ask him to roll his window down. I ask him if its stock and he says yes. I was . And then a little tiny badge caught my eye, V10. I told the owner that I thought it was a V8 and he laughed.

I didn't even know they were out yet!!! Very quick car! Anyways, it was a cool run and props to the R8 driver for being cool!

 

Nice runs, that detuned LP 560-4 engine in the R8 is so much better than the old one.

 

Yeh I love what they did to it! Finally the R8's dynamics match it's looks!

 

Old one? It replaced the V8? I didn't get that impression?

I was lucky enough to see one in October at the ALMS race at Laguna.

 

I think he meant that the V10 in the R8 is a detuned version of the LP560-4 engine...and that it is so much better than the old Gallardo V10.

Vic r u sure? The V8 motor in the R8 is the same 4.2L V8 in the RS4 V8. The only V10 I know in a R8 is the Twin Turbo 5.0 V10. The same monster motor in the RS6. This is the one the poster raced.
The Lambo 5.2 V10 is in the S8. Totally different motor. At least I thought. But I could be wrong about the issued V10 TT.

Lambo V10 =5.2
Audi TTv10 =5.0

 

sup playboy....the new R8 V10 is not a TT, its a version of the NA v10 offered in the current Lambo LP-560-4

I like it medium rare but a cheap steak unfortunately never the less. You win!

 

I saw the v10 R8 couple months back on the street. A older gentleman with a suit going to the temple. Its about time they put alot more hp for the price. Its suppose to be in the supercar class.

 

I'd love to get one eventually...plus I like the "detuned" part which I can assume will make the R8 even more of a monster once some tuner gets a hold of it...

OP is refering to speed in kilometers and his profile says he hangs out in Moscow. If this race happened in the heart of Russia then it was a TT V10

 

If you add two and two you don't get five: the R8 comes with a NA 4.2 V8 or a NA 5.2L V10. The RS6 is a mid-size sedan and has a TT 5.0L V10. It is not available in any other platform so unless the OP also does not know the difference between an R8 and an RS6 then it was a NA V10 displacing 5.2 liters.

 

haha wth, I was reading it late and it looked like he said Europe gets TT V10 R8.

 

Just to clarify a few things, this took place in Northern Mexico

Its an N/A 5.2L V10, 510 hp and 390 lbs/trq... Just like in Forza 3
