to start off my first kill story, I honestly thought I was gonna lose. I mean a 4cyl, vs. V-8.

Well this is me n my bestfriend racing, so this is no bull**** story about the GT ****ing up, because he didnt. we raced clean, straight, 4 times, and all 4 times, i took him from the start to end.

I probably pulled about 1 car length in each gear.

finished it off hitting 70mph about 4 car lengths.

i raced a 2002 mustang GT in my CLK320 and i gotta tell ya, i felt proud of my V6 baby! The mustang started pulling away at 150 kph and just about getting to 210 kph... to my total surprise, i was beginning to ease up to him with about 3 car lengths between us! He slowed down.

So gentlemen.. please someone explain to me if this is possible or was his car ****?

FYI -

**manual transmissions and coupes - autos and convertables are slower

94-95 Mustang GT 5.0L 215hp 285ft/lb ~6.7s 0-60
96-97 Mustang GT 4.6L 215hp 285ft/lb ~6.7s 0-60
98 Mustang GT 4.6 225hp 285ft/lb ~6.5s 0-60
99+ Mustang GT 4.6 260hp 302ft/lb ~5.9s 0-60

94-95 Mustang Cobra 5.0L 240hp 285ft/lb ~6.3s 0-60
96-98 Mustang Cobra 4.6L (DOHC) 305hp 300ft/lb ~5.7s 0-60
99-01 Mustang Cobra 4.6L (DOHC) 320hp 316ft/lb ~5.5s 0-60
03-04 Mustang Cobra 4.6L (DOHC) SC 390hp 390ft/lb ~4.7s 0-60

** 03-04 Cobras are under-rated tho, dyno results prove the 03-04 cobras make ~405-425 hp stock -- 0-60 times obviously still high 4 second range.

Just reporting the #s I've seen. The 99+GTs are fast. They make 230rear wheel hp and 270+ rear wheel torque, which yields slightly higher #s assuming a 16% drivetrain loss. I just recently sold my 97 Mustang Cobra, but I had the chance to race a couple of them and barely beat them. They can definitely run 5.9s 0-60, maybe even faster. Maybe the stock one you raced was an automatic? Or he/she didn't know how to drive
