Some track passes with my CL65

Nice! May i ask what you feel was your best mod to your car? I am most likely going to go with the mbh HE and a johnson pump first but wanted to know where to next? Pulley/tune seems logical. Also launching on drag radials? Is it hard on your car? Break anything yet?

Since mine is a 65, the best mod was the Quaife LSD. The 65 has so much torque even without a tune it just sucks to drive with the stick differential as it spins one tire like you are on ice, even on dry roads.
Since you have a 55, the tune & pulley will be a huge difference. As for the Johnson pump, I don't believe that's actually an upgrade. Check out the info "W" has posted here: https://mbworld.org/forums/m275-v12-...ion-pumps.html
So far no problems with my car related to abuse at the track or the use of drag radials.
Track is in Palmer Alaska, just a little ways from Anchorage where I live.
Shooting for 10.5's this year.

Thanks MNM5ETR. I wish I could get away with smaller burnouts, but trying to get so much torque to hook even in such a heavy car requires me to get the tires pretty hot. Sadly I only get 8 track days out of a set of M/T ET streets. Some of my Mustang buddies who run similar times and get 15-20 track days or more out of a set.

Oh yeah. There are a few street cars running low 10's at our track and some that call theirs street cars (but don't drive them on the street) that run 9's. Of course none of them are luxury cars that get daily driven year round. There are plenty of race cars that run in the 9's, some 8's, and even a 5 second as well as a few 6 second cars. One guy with a 6 second funny car says he is going to let me make a pass in it someday. We will see.
They are doing another Alaskan reality show about him and a few others this summer and I may be involved as well so, maybe I'll get some TV passes in the CL, who knows.

Dr Matt, just a note, you don't need to light the MT ET up like that, they are a drag radial, not a bias slick. Scrub them at the box and the first hint of smoke, get out of it. Blowing them up like that gums up the tread and reduces traction.

That's what I always heard, but has not been the case with my CL on M/T's. I have made well over 1,000 passes in my life, and over a hundred with my CL. I've tried a lot of different burnout techniques so far, different tire pressures, different launch rpm. I can tell you, if I don't get them hot, they don't hook, period. My 60' times are consistent 1.59-1.61 on a track that has notoriously poor prep. The heavy car small tire just likes some heat. I only get 8 track days at most out of a pair. If I could hook with a small burnout I'd sure do it and save $700 a year in tires since I race 9 days per year. Hoping the step up to wider wheels and tires will drop my 60' and get me a whole summer from one pair.

Good stuff, track prep is certainly a factor, but with a mediocre prep, a scrub "should" be good enough.
I run a 325/17 version on my supercharged srt8, similar weight, probably a bit more TQ off idle, and scrubbing works best here at NE tracks. Similar 60's off idle with a dead hook,

I was running a 265/40-18 on a 8" wheel. This year I'll be on a 285/40-18 on a 9.5" wheel. I make about 900#' of torque at converter stall, and scaled the car at 4785# set up for the track with me in it. Lot of weight to launch on a 265 wide tire with an 18" rim.
Here's a dyno graph but it really doesn't show torque down low as we had to wait until 3500 RPM to go WOT or the car would downshift, and it was in limp mode because we forgot to hook up the airbox sensors when we swapped on my CAI. Should have a new dyno sheet Saturday and expecting over 650/750 at the tire.
