There is no factory instructions for this installation. All the operations to install are from other people who did it from personal experience.

Lupito,

check out Peter Leubner's site. It's pretty complete with pictures of the connectors, pinouts, wiring harness etc.

http://www.leubner.com/w163/

PS. The site is not very fast/overloaded so it takes some patience to get all the files.

The only thing I can think of that might help is to use parts from G-wagon (W463) and work something out with those instructions.

Part Number "A 211 820 05 97"

I think this is not compatible for ML.

I was read in pdf of site Peter, only 4 models are compatibles only such Part Number start in "220 XXX XX XX".

Yes, you need to remove it!
Get the tuner I posted above and sell yours! ... and don't look at any other ones with 211 partno's! (Even if they list ML compatibility)

I would recommend checking it! It should be a ML original with the number starting with 163.

1. A163 820 04 89 (old one, now obsolete)
2. A163 820 36 89 (current one, and the only one to buy in ebay for the ML)

PS: Some people take a Comand from another vehicle and make a difficult conversion (NOCAN conversion) so that it will work in a ML, or buy a CANBUS conversion harness to place between the Unit and the original harness in the ML.

The above listed partno's are orginal ML numbers, and are the only Comand units that have NOCAN functionality.
Some suppliers do the NOCAN conversion and list their devices on ebay as MULTICAN (will work with and without CAN) on the german ebay. This can be seen when the partno is not starting with 163, and they advertise "NOCAN" operation. My personal recommendation is however to stay away from those devices for use in a ML.

Get yourself some radio keys (I paid 2 Euros for mine) , and pull it out to make sure you have an original ML unit.

cheers
