specs/dots of rust
anyone's ML here have rust already (aside from rockchips that went deep or scratches)?
I was looking at our ML today and the trunk door has rust specs all over it on the surface...what gives. My '94 c220 don't even got rust specs...just areas underneath the panels are starting to get rust.
I looked on the doors as well...same thing. Anyone else have this problem?

I have the same problem. I have a white 2002 ML500, and it gets rust colored spots all over it. Everywhere. The spots will not come off with regular washing, but they do come off with a wax/cleaner. Once they are off, the paint looks fine.
They also appear on the painted plastic parts. Thay do not appear on any other surface of the car. Just the painted surface.
I took it to the dealer, and they said it was salt stains.
They will come back next winter though. It's ugly.
If someone has a better explanation than "salt stains", that would be great. I have never seen anything like this before, and I have has many-a-car on salty streets.

I had the same problem. I'm also from the Boston area. I used Turtle Wax Bug/Tar remover. It was a pain to go through the whole car, but it saved my white paint on the ML.
