You must look for a faulty Defroster Actuator/Motor.

Set controls for heat at legroom.

Remove the cover under the Instrument Panel and look up and to the right and you will see the image in jpeg.

Pull the Trans. Control Module out of its bracket, do not disconnect elec. connector, and then remove the bracket and the Defroster Motor will be revealed.

Start the eng. and select defrost and see if the legs to the motor move. If not, you can tap the motor with the handle of a screwdriver and see if it moves. If not the motor must be replaced.

Sir, you are very helpful every time, Thank you sooo much!!!!! Would never know that there is another actuator behind there.. if not that it could be climet control?

I got one more question for you if you dont mind. On same car 2005 ML350 last week my bas esp light came on and the abs lights.. 3 lights on the left they all just keep blinking whenever they want, most of the time its when speeding up and only when its wet out or raining. When its dry its fine, no lights on the dash just sometime bas esp light up then go off. Do you have any idea where i should start looking? I feel like its one of the speed sensors or the connectors get wet and start acting up. is there a way to check speed sensor with a multi meter? And if so i would probably need to check it when its wet. Thank you again

If you intend on keeping you vehicles, you need a
scanner. scanner.
There are too many possibilities when it comes to Brakes/Traction Control System.

I have MB2 Icarsoft scanner, Would that work? Only happens when its raining out, when its dry its fine, and only when speeding up.

Well see if it reveals "C" codes. If it doesn't, get the scanner I recommended.

MR Dundee, Sure enough i will thank you again for your help. Got to that actuator took it off and right away seen what was wrong, the actuator itself was working, but the white plastic arm was cracked and the actuator was turning inside of it but couldn,t move the arm. Lucky enough, i have a parts car, so i just switched it up and greased it good. Everything works like a charm,

Regarding my all 3 Abs lights on the left of the dash was on and off found the problem too. took my wheel guard off, took the electric tape off the wires of the harness that was going to abs modual/pump, BINGO Red wire was cut, holding on on 2 threads. And looked like someone already fixed it before. I fixed the wire taped it back up, started the car no lights on the dash !!!!! YEEEEY

Thank you soo much really appreciate it!!!!

correct part number for lever that fits on the actuator motor shaft?

Assuming the motor is fine and it's just the lever/arm that's spinning on the motor's shaft, for my 2003 ML500 does part #1638300133 contain (among other things) the lever I will need to replace? Or does the lever come with the motor? This looks to be what's in the 1638300133 kit ... I'm a little concerned because there are left and right kits (this being the left). On the other hand this looks to be a set of levers - is it for all the actuators on the left side?

Edit: on another recent post (https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...mittent-2.html) I saw reference to #1638301033, operating lever, that I suspect is the correct part number, at least for a 05 ML350. I'm assuming it's not as 'popular' part as others as online it's harder to find ... will check with local MB dealer tomorrow ...

I am not sure if it comes with the motor, I have a parts car at my back yard, so i just got it off for myself i didnt have to order nothing. But i did see that on the same there is a same motor with a same arm like that. If you want me to check to make sure its the same, i can do that and if you want you can get it from me. if you do pm me ur # i can text u pics of it.
The picture you posted with all the arms, i dont see one like it is on the one i took out.The one i took out with that motor is mole like L shaped.

Actuator runs continously

I pulled actuator - lever is split and the motor shaft and surrounding surfaces were covered with tiny plastic shavings. The actuator wasn't running at all as I rotated the position dial, though after disconnecting and reconnecting the harness, the actuator ran continously, which would account for the plastic shavings as the shaft first cracked and then scraped the lever. I disconnected the harness off another acuator - one I could see was working properly - and connected it to the defroster actuator, turned power back on, and it spun continuously, so it would appear to be a bad actuator (as opposed to a spurious signal to the actuator). I'll be ordering the actuator and lever tomorrow.

I manually flipped the lever to open the windshield vent, confirmed it's blowing correct, and found that the left half/left side of the register blows a lot harder than the right side. I think it's always been that way - the passenger side always takes longer to clear. Any ideas? It occurs to me I should check if it's just the windshield vent that's uneven left v right, or whether the side vents as well.

EDIT: I ordered 1638200708, it's the actuator and it appears to include the operating lever.

your actuator is fine, all you needed was the arm, but if you didnt want to spend the $$ you can always glue it and put it back in, good epoxy would do the trick. You can add a thin little screw to make sure it wont turn inside of it. Thats what i would do if i didnt have the parts car in my yard.
