Navigation AMG Startup Screen
For the ML350/2010 - with the current nav system, are there some hacks where we can set the startup screen to show the AMG symbol?
When I bought my E55, it didn't have that set, so I had to do the 357 Nav yes/no trick to get it to show.
for the current navigation system, is there a current method to do this?

From the many posts on the topic, I gather than the 2009/2010 NAV systems are a lot less hackable than before. I have yet to see a post on this or any other forum that shows how to get into service menus.

Getting into the service menu is pretty straight forward. The method that works on my '10 ml63 is:
hit the nav button
Once in nav mode, hold phone hang-up/*/6 (3 buttons) at the same time until the engineering menu comes up.
I haven't noticed the AMG start-up screen on my vehicle (despite being an AMG) and didn't see an option to toggle this when I poked around the engineering menu a few days ago.

thank you. when i got my AMG, the AMG startup screen wasn't there either. that is what prompted me to research it at that time. i'll play around and report back.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what you find. I had no real intent when I was poking around the system the other day and could have easily overlooked this feature.
I really only became aware that some have the AMG splash screen (on older models?) more recently.

Out of interest, where did you find out how to get into the engineering menu?

for my e55, there were two menus, the engineering menu where you could change the NAV voice, and the service menu where you cold change the keyboard layout/logo/etc.
i'm hoping its all in one menu this time, but if its not, any clues as how you derived this back door? if this doesn't work, there has to be another menu.

in my AMG, this same menu was reached when you were on the Nav screen.
in my AMG, the other screen was reached by some button combinations, while you were on the Audio screen. we'll have to research more, but please let me know if you find anything.

Thanks! That worked on my 2009 ML550 as well. But I couldn't find anything I wanted, in particular: (a) change the colour scheme on the display; (b) change the rate volume increases with speed. On my X5 I could do both of these.

I found it over on the other forum (Benzworld.org).

I did a bit more research and I think we may be up a creek as far as making these types of changes in newer models (more or less >2008).
It appears that many of the 'cool' functions that used to be available via the service/engineering menu (are these the same?) have been stripped from newer models. Specifically, it appears that you used to be able to configure the start-up screen, enable vehicle in motion playback for the DVD, and some other minor functions through the service menu.
By and large, the consensus appears to be that these functions have now been removed entirely, or are now only available via a dealer with SDS.
I hope to be corrected on these points... However, at this point, I haven't been able to find supporting evidence to the contrary.
