turn signal ticker

i bought a 2006 ml350 a few weeks ago.
small irritation: the turn signal ticker seems TOO LOUD.
do you know if there is an easy fix?

(ie; wrap something around something to muffle the sound?)

It's the relay that "ticks." Nobody separates noise maker from flasher function.

Actually, some do.

I had a XK8 Jag in the late 90s and it had a soft digitally generated "tick" sound for the blinker. It actually sounded very nice... more like a "toc", than a "tick".

I also experienced this effect on a "Hummer" H3.

I have consistently complained about two things in my ML: when you press the windshield washer button, the wipers keep wiping at least two times more than necessary, so the windshield is constantly streaked; and the turn signal clicker is way too loud. It would seem to me sensible for the clicker to turn off when you are stationary waiting to turn, leaving just the flashing green arrow on, as that is when the noise is most annoying.

Funny how, on expensive German(ish) vehicles, it is the trivial things that are the most annoying!

Yeah your right, the wipers bother me as well in the ML.

there is a reason for the wipers going 2 more times, this prevents the fingers of windshield washer streaking down the glass, oterwise you would end up activiating the wipers on your own to remove those....this way the vehicle does it for you....

it's the same in the Land Rover

No, no, a thousand times no! Every other vehicle I have had -- and still have -- wipes just once after you release the spray button. I have never had any problem with "fingers of windshield washer streaking down the glass", and even if I did I am perfectly capable of tapping the wiper control to have it do an extra wipe. The current system cleans the windshield beautifully on the first wipre then proceeds to smear the glass while making a horrible screeching noise as the wipers continue scraping across a dry windshield for not one but two extra and unnecessary wipes.
