Max handling power and torque of the 7Gtronic transmission
Hey guys anyone have official documents saying the max handling power and torgue figures of the 7G tronic transmission? I have only seen one so far on wiki but prefer official documents because if i chip it and mb say its the fault of the chip i can have backup documents just in case they try and make it look like it was the chip. Thanks!!!

500 (or is that 550?) torque comes to mind. There was some documents published years ago, and if I find them will give a link.
Most chip makers stay under this limit anyways.
By the way, these 7Gtronic transmissions are very delicate and fail frequently under stock usage. Search the forums and see. Also replacement transmissions are hard to get, sometimes months in waiting.
You might want to re consider the chip idea.

The transmission can hold 1.5 times what it's making now.
These are STRONG transmissions and there isn't a chip or modification available for these cars that would push the limits of the trans.
Go ahead and get the chip and don't worry.
You would need to make well over 450hp for this to become a problem.

I believe the 7g tranny can take up to over 1000 newton meter torque which is over or around 740 foot pounds of torque.

there has obviously been problems with the 7gtronic gearbox from what I have read, was it ever rectified as I have the 2011 model which is the last one before the w166.
Also what other cars was this transmission fitted to?

Yes these problems were fixed eventually.
What does it matter what other cars it was fitted to?
It was fitted to nearly every model Mercedes offered by 2008

Thanks for the reply, I wanted to know so I can research and see if the problem was wide spread across all models and not just the ML.

The biggest issue we have is harsh downshifts which is due to the fact that the transmission can downshift up to 3 gears at a time rather than like most autos which need to go through each gear before reaching the desired gear. It essentially gets stuck trying to be smooth.
