currently I just purchased 07 ml320 cdi with 210k miles and my Dalmia is finding the correct oil weight and brand.
I have checked https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevol...229.51_en.html and I found out that I can use Mobile 1 ESP 5w-40, but this one has disappeared.
I found other brands like Valvoline SynPower MST C3 5W-40, Castrol Edge Turbo Diesel 5W-40 or LIQUI MOLY Top Tec 4110 5w-40 or 5w-30 will these be okay choices.
Also will 5w-40 be okay to use as well as the car has high miles and in Florida or I should use the Mobile ESP 5w-30 mobile.

I have switched to Penzoil Platinum Euro 5W30
It meets Mercedes 229.51 specs, and made from natural gas so really pure. Pay attention to the labels cause there are several 5W30 oils in similar packages that do not meet 229.51 specs. I buy form Amazon. The others you mentioned should work IF they have the Mercedes 229.51 specs on the bottle.
When I checked under the hood there's two stickers showing up 229.31 and 228.51. Will rotella 5w-40 be okay or just stay with the pennzoil 5w-30. Is the pennzoil 5w-30 be okay in florida or is it light oil. It been really hard to find the 5w-40 that are 229.51 in stores or 229.31. Thank you in advance.

I stick with the oem mobil 1 5w30 ESP formula. Ive opened the EGR on the ml and gl and no carbon build up whatsoever. 193k miles on the ml and 214k miles on the gl.
I know this is a sensitive subject when it comes to motor oils, but since my car shows bellow in engine compartment cant i just use the Rotellla T6 5w-30 as its avaialbe all over the place.
Do our cars take both 5w-30 or 5w-40 full synthetic or it doesnt really matter which weight to use.
Im in floirda and it gets hot here.
