I am wondering why MB stopped producing ML420 CDI ( 8 cyl version). It could be my next car ..Until that time, I am not buying 'new' version where shape of lights or COMMAND change ...I can do it aftermarket for much less money ...
it's my 0.02 ...

They Stopped 420CDI due to reliability/emission problems.
That was a Bad AZZ engine with Torque range better than a V12,
Drove a GL420 CDI on the Autobahn going to Hannover..
W166 will have interior dash panel like the 212, 207 & facelift 204..

v8 and actual 63 amg has been stopped to be produced for emission problem: they were both euro 4 emission categories and with more than 340 (more or less) co2 for every KM...there is a law that state that the average co2\km for every car maker would be less than 140g\km of co2 in not so long time...they stopped do it for get the average co2 less than now.
does the new ml w166 will be seen at new york auto show??
however the 420 cdi weight more 300 kg than a 320 cdi...it's no nothing...the new 350 cdi with 265 hp and 620n\m will have the same performance of the 420 cdi...consuming a lot less with much less co2\km too

well i think the new biturbo era of MB (amg and not) will be a lot better than the old naturally aspirated v8 (just by giving a look at the co2\km emission or average fuel consumption)
my dealer said that both 63 and 450 cdi are not anymore buyable in italy...
are the ml w164 63 amg still on sale in usa?
however for example the new 4.7 l v8 biturbo...has the same turque (600n\m) of the 350 cdi from the same n. of rpm (1600) but while diesel last until 2400rpm the gas. powered last until 4700rpm!!! it's a gas engine that push like a diesel engine...very good...very interesting!!
velociraptor, about off road can you just tell me if the w166 will be better or worsth than w 164? just better or no..or pratically the same
