Mirror lights ?

The dealer today said they can't check it since it's not dark out and they can't seem to trick the ML in thinking it's dark. Now, I'm stuck going to another dealer to see what they say.

2013 ML BLUETEC JULY 31
So, dealer looked at it and say it's part of the P35 lighting package (which I don't have). I checked MBUSA.com and it lists "Night Security Illumination" as a standard feature, not optional. Further, the P35 Lightin package only lists the Bi-Xenon headlamps with Active Curve Illumination, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Corner-illuminating front lamps and Headlamp washing system in it and none of those sound like this. I'm not sure if this is something that MB has not included it on early models, etc., but I feel misinformed by someone here. MB product specialist is giving a call.
I think in the past it was part of Xenons pkg in USA both were std in Canada MY11

Email Response from Customer Services - on this issue
"We can confirm Germany is aware that is feature is not available in this model. They are looking into whether these vehicles can be coded to offer the locator light. We would suggest checking with your dealer in few months to see if there are any updates."
Cannot believe that you have to wait for a few months to find out, if a feature that is included as standard will work or not

My past two trucks have had this as well as my wife's previous car. Don't plan to go without. Hopefully any concerns about MB not getting this corrected are rumor and misinformation.

I emailed MBUSA from my owners support page to ask about the issue. I explained that I have already took this issue to one dealer with no success. I let them know that I setup another visit with a different dealership. I asked them what they plan to do to resolve my lights not working. Will see what they say.

If the dealer does not know, ask them to contact their factory rep. He will then advise them to do what I had mentioned earlier. I have already done this on three vehicles and it works.

Thanks MBtech, sounds like a super easy fix. I take it this is just a body control module reflash?

This what has happened with the puddle lights. They were not correctly coded in the gasoline vehicles. All the coding strings have been corrected, when you go to the dealer they will rewrite the corrected SCN coding, it is not a flash, and it is very quick to do.

Mercedes does not use what is called a body control module, multiple control unit handle the tasks of body functions. The EZS is the electronic ignition switch, it is also the central gateway on a 166 chassis. The central gateway is in a sense almost like a router would be on a home network. The 166 has about 8 separate networks it basically translates signals from one network and communicates them on the others. If a certain feature is not coded in the vehicle, then the gateway does not pass the information along.

Here's what they told me @ Beshoff in SJ about this.
They said that they could not fix the recall yet since the manufacture still have not sent the information to the dealers to fix the issue.

You need to tell the dealer you are not satisfied and don't believe them. Like I stated tell them to contact their factory support...and guess what they will tell him, do it!
