There is...they may not be aware of it, tell them to re-SCN code the EZS. (EIS)

The dealer today said they can't check it since it's not dark out and they can't seem to trick the ML in thinking it's dark. Now, I'm stuck going to another dealer to see what they say.

In Canada P35 is part of the AHA BI Xenons. I think ur dealer is thinking of the interior lighting pkg or ambient lighting. By pkg I don't mean option each country sets up what is standard but its still a pkg each country has to order from MBUSI
I think in the past it was part of Xenons pkg in USA both were std in Canada MY11

Cannot believe that you have to wait for a few months to find out, if a feature that is included as standard will work or not

If not, I would hope they would compensate us.

I want them to work as well....but it's not looking good. Nobody has had success to get them repaired or has any real information as to why they don't work.

I want them to work too...

I think it would be a great deal of luxury to unlock my doors when walking to my car, and the entire area around my door is illuminated.

What concerns me the most is the fact that Mercedes claims that they perform a series of quality checks. I guess checking all the lights isn't part of the checks.

My past two trucks have had this as well as my wife's previous car. Don't plan to go without. Hopefully any concerns about MB not getting this corrected are rumor and misinformation.

I emailed MBUSA from my owners support page to ask about the issue. I explained that I have already took this issue to one dealer with no success. I let them know that I setup another visit with a different dealership. I asked them what they plan to do to resolve my lights not working. Will see what they say.

If the dealer does not know, ask them to contact their factory rep. He will then advise them to do what I had mentioned earlier. I have already done this on three vehicles and it works.

Thanks MBtech, sounds like a super easy fix. I take it this is just a body control module reflash?

Mercedes does not use what is called a body control module, multiple control unit handle the tasks of body functions. The EZS is the electronic ignition switch, it is also the central gateway on a 166 chassis. The central gateway is in a sense almost like a router would be on a home network. The 166 has about 8 separate networks it basically translates signals from one network and communicates them on the others. If a certain feature is not coded in the vehicle, then the gateway does not pass the information along.

This what has happened with the puddle lights. They were not correctly coded in the gasoline vehicles. All the coding strings have been corrected, when you go to the dealer they will rewrite the corrected SCN coding, it is not a flash, and it is very quick to do.

It has to do with the spark plugs. Because that's the only real difference between the gas and diesel. :-)

MBtech thanks for the detailed explanation. Thanks for helping and contributing to the community. MB should give you a raise.

Here's what they told me @ Beshoff in SJ about this.

They said that they could not fix the recall yet since the manufacture still have not sent the information to the dealers to fix the issue.

It is not a recall (as of yet, not sure if it will).

You need to tell the dealer you are not satisfied and don't believe them. Like I stated tell them to contact their factory support...and guess what they will tell him, do it!
