Wow pretty great info I would love for the puddle lights to have been working on the truck since day one I mean Geez it is a Benz .... Pay good money to deal with all this extra run around....

So...did anyone get the fix described by MBtech to work yet?

I took my 2012 ML350, in this morning with the printout of the fix description by MBtech. They first confirmed that the puddle lights were not working, they then tried out the fix mentioned by MBtech, but that didn't work.

They kept the car and gave me a loaner, I just got a message that they have resolved the problem, my puddle lights are now working.

I don't know what the fix was, but will find out tomorrow when I collect the car and let you guys know.

Yes, please let us know. Mine goes in on Monday. It would be nice to know what tell them.

If it did not work, they must have done something wrong...the only way to fix it is by performing the previously mentioned procedure. I can guarantee you that they finally did it correctly, but dealers don't like to admit they were wrong or don't know.

I collected the car today, and the puddle lights now work. As mentioned by MBtech, they just did a SCN re-coding.

MBtech, is there an EZS and EIS? My dealer was unable to fix ours and had never heard of an EZS.

You are joking right...they told you they don't know what an EZS is? It's time to find a new dealer as they sound highly incompetent. EZS and EIS are the same thing, EIS is the old abbreviation and EZS is what is used in newer documentation. See attached.

You should ask them for a printout of the quick test of your vehicle and point out EZS.

Here is an update email I just received from customer support regarding the puddle light issue, Inquiry sent few weeks ago.


"We understand your concern and wish we could just update the vehicle system to have to locator light work immediately. There were changes made to this model for 2012 and this feature, though standard, is not functioning with the new head units and control systems in the vehicle. As advised, Germany is working on the fix and it will be sent to our dealers as soon as it is provided.

Should you wish to discuss this, please feel free to contact me at 800-367-6372 ext 4673."


Maybe Germany engineers should contact MBTech to get the fix

Mine fixed. Here is what the invoice says-
"Checked for software update SCN codes. LF and RF door control link. Instrument and rain/light sensor coded. After checking, confirmed repair." So basically, they updated the software....I think.

This is interesting. I wonder if this would fix the problems we're having with our lights not turning on in auto mode until it is very dark and wipers running in auto mode on a dry windshield.

I never had those problems. Just happy the lights finally work as intended.

Sounds like the Mars lander that was built in the US but programed in metric. When it went to land the engineers that set the program numbers did it in feet and miles but was never translated to metric so it landed at about 3000 MPH! Instant billion dollar lawn dart!

If it could happen to NASA then it could happen to anyone. :-)

I have mine in today for the Puddle Lights/Mirror Lights. I should have the car back within the next couple of hours.

Update:

They fixed my car yesterday! It was ready around 4pm - I had college so I wasn't able to pick up till this morning.

I got my ML, and all is well - I don't know what it looks like at night however tonight I will take a picture and post it for everyone to see if it is important to them to have and take in for service.

There was no charge for anything.

What did they do on yours to repair? Same as mine?
