ML350 Door pins.
Door pin "MOD"
I was disappointed to see the cheap plastic quality of the door pins that MB decided to go with. Taxi grade plastic junk. Granted you most likely will never touch them given all the automation of the vehicle's lock/unlock features. None-the-less, I have decided to modify with pins with something more worthy of the $60K vehicle.
Anyone have experience in swapping them out?
These are some replacement parts I found on ebay and such: please give your feedback. I am willing to pay up to $20 a piece.

- Are they simple to replace?
- Do I need to remove that little ring around the base?
- Is it a one-size-fits-all? Is there a specific ML350 threading or curvature of the washer gromet?

Great minds think alike, friend I had the same irritation with the door pins a few weeks back and started this thread:

Here's what I'll probably end up getting:

You can order the OEM MB euro pins for the front doors. They sit flush when locked and they're only about $1 each. The simply screw on/off.

In this pic, the door is unlocked. When locked, the pin sits flush. I have done this to all my recent Benz's (C Sedan, E Sedan, GL, ML).

Niiice. Is it correct to say, these are/look like the US markets pins but are flush against the door panel when locked?
I was looking for a metal/silver/brushed aluminum look.
Thank you.

You need to be aware that if the W166 is consistent with the latest C/E Sedans, you can't change the rear pins without significant effort as they are fused to the door lock assembly. The front pins can be unscrewed. So if you opt to go with an aluminum door pin, they will be mismatched.
