Loud Wipers - Does yours do the same?
My 2013 ML63 wipers are crazy loud by making a "thwumping" noise when they are at full extension to the left.
Does anyone else have this issue? If so, anyone have a solution?
My dealer said it's normal! He even had another ML sitting right there in the bay and it did the same thing. The wipers on my E are silent and would expect the same on any MB.

I have similar issues on ML350 Bluetec. Our ML63 wipers work perfectly however. I'm hoping that the opti coat on my windshield may be causing some skipping (thumping) noise and that it will soon smooth out as I drive the car more in rainy Florida. It's definitely not normal because one of our ML63's wipers work flawlessly.

Very strange. I seem to hear a completely mixed bag on whether or not this happens to ML owners. Dealers telling me it's normal is just ridiculous though...
Perhaps the wiper arm needs an adjustment?

Solid Granite - Just called SA to see what they would say. SA said, "Please bring it in, we'll try to make whatever adjustment we can; loud wipers are certainly not normal on MLs as far as I know. I would have way more complaints!" Also called two family members who have MLs - one is a MY13 ML63 like our's and wipers also work flawlessly.

The left side wiper on my ML flops and flogs terribly. Right side not so bad.
Never have seen this before on any MB. Another poster several months ago said he polished the glass and his wipers started working fine. But after a month or so they started flopping and wiggling again.
Pretty bad design on a really basic mechanical function.

Mine flop about and wriggle quite badly after I've given her a wash - specifically when I use the "clear coat" sprayer at the car wash.
It clears up after about 1/2 hour of driving in rain, especially if I spray the windscreen with the "krystal klarr" mixture that I have in the washer fluid reservoir.

Is the noise a mechanical noise from the wiper OR a noise from the rubber
blade catching/releasing/catching?
My E had the latter and it would jerk jerk jerk, instead of a smooth motion.
I had polished the glass and used Cquartz glass coating which sheds water
like crazy but there was this shudder of the blades.
Although almost new, the rubber blades were extremely dirty--maybe gunk
from the mold release compound?? It took several cleaning with a high quality APC (all purpose cleaner) before a rag would stop having black
streaks on it (gunk from the blades). After the blades were totally clean,
smooth wiper action and no noise.

This is exactly what I experienced today. Today was the first day when i drove a brand new ML 350 in rain and was weirded out by the left wiper. The bottom part of the wiper made noise and looked like it was rubbing against the windscreen pretty bad. It looked like the bottom part of the rubber should be fixed to the wiper assembly and it wasnt. I didn't get a chance to try fixing it but it was really annoying.

sethml350 - I don't think the thump thread issues are the same issues as you are experiencing. You said "left" wiper which I assume is the driver's side. The thump described in the other thread is on the passenger side where a wrongly installed blade was hitting the windshield trim. I had the dealer change the blade on mine and the issue went away.

Several years ago I had the same issue on an 07 ML and just happened to be looking through the owners manual. It said to use the windshield washer fluid to smooth out the wipers. Brilliant! Worked like a charm. Especially after a carwash. Give it a try to see if it helps. Usually you dont think to use washer fluid when its raining but it usually works. Good luck.
