jack pad question on 2015 ML 350
I have 2015 ML 350, I need to change oil, but noticed it has the same type of jack pad for BMW, wonder anyone here what type of jack pad to use? I understand there is front mid point to use to jack the car, and put two jack stand on the front jack point. so as in the back, in the center point to jack up the car and put two jack stand in the two real jack point.
attach is my jack point look like. Please advice.
Thanks a lot

updated on my jack pad question
updated on my jack pad question, today I decided to make an easy jack pad, key thing is measure the dimension of the hole, it is 1 1/8 IN width, 2 3/8 In long, depth is 7/8 IN, the rest of just easy. attach the photos. Will let you know when test jack up the car, but I still can't figure out where should I jack in the front center point and back center point?
Thanks
Frank

Today I had change to jacked up on front right the manufacture recommended jack point with my newly made the jack pad, it works pretty good, so I went to take few photos with my selfie stick, the front center jack point was a square 5.5 in by 1 in aluminium , i guess that would be the jack point for center front. Can someone to confirm with me. and also I took two photos in the real center of the car, one is real center jack point on crossbar to the wheel arms L or R. and the other photo is real center diff. I use real diff to jack up my BMW series 5, but which option is safer? I am attach 3 photos.
Please advice.
Thanks

The 5.5" x 1" pad is the factory location for the front. The diff is the factory location (they use the caveat "if you don't have a lift). I would not use the subframe location you show in the last photo.

Does your car have the running boards. Car with running boards have the extra pad like what you have shown. If your car does not have running board, then the smaller pad is not on the car. I used the pad when I used my floor jack or a lift. I will Have to research when you have to use the jack that come with the car. good question!

Thanks VinceC and Isawelvis for the reply, what is CAVEAT? I always use diff to jackup the BMW in center with floor jack and then out two jack stand on read right and left of jack point. I have the running board.
My question is with 5.1 by 1 inch, that is a little inside of the cover? do I need to remove the cover? that is hard to do without jack the car up. otherwise If I use hockey puck put on floor jack, will the break the cover?

M-B workshop instructions are aimed at dealer techs so they recommend using the jack points for lifting. But that is with a lift. Alternatively they say it is OK to use the diff.
I made a block of wood for the lift pad on my jack. It allows me to lift at the rectangular lift point without damaging the under tray.

Just use the pad in your picture to place the jack if it is a floor jack or lift. You do not need to remover anything. . These pads are what the Mercedes dealer uses to lift the car on their lifts and you can use them if you have a floor jack, just as they are. No removal required.

Dan,
I looked this before, not sure will it work, I am using 3 ton beg red jack stand, the same on this amazon link. You like it?
Just let everyone know I went on ebay, bought a bensz service manual software listed all the Benz car, it is updated on 4/2019, but you have to have a good computer knowledge. the lift/jack up in the doc they mention was use lift on 4 jack points on 2 front and 2 real at same time, they didn't mention anything about to use low profile floor jack, jack the center jack point I show everyone with earlier photo, and then have 2 jack stand to put the two front jack point. and then go to real, use floor jack to jack from read diff and put two jack stand in two real jack point. Will attach the instruction, it is mainly for dealer.
Thanks

Isawelvis,
How did you jack the car? did you use the front center jack point? and then put two jack stand on the front jack point? and then jack from the real center diff and then put jack stand in the two real jack point? I used the real diff for my bmw, I am confident about it, but with the front center jack point, it only has 5.1 x 1 in , it is little lower then the cover, so I am afraid will damage the cover with my hockey puck on my floor jack.
Thanks

haha. I guess I could. I had an OEM oil extractor but the hose is too short to reach the bottom of the pan. Anyway. My question is about the jack points instead of oil change as I might need to do the front brake soon.
