M276 code p0025

14’ ml350 throwing p002500 adjustment of the exhaust camshaft bank 2 performed late. Replaced bank 1 and 2 cam sensors and solenoids. No difference. Turned motor by hand while CPA was out and checked reluctor down the hole and appeared centered. Continued turning motor over while solenoids were off and no cam adjuster slipping. No drivability problems. Need help

That is a lot of fine testing on your end !
  1. CPS are new
  2. Solenoids are new
  3. Reluctors have not shifted
  4. VVT are locked

Is this now a STORED fault.... ?
Oil in the CPS/ECU harness??

CPS are new
extension pigtails installed on CPS and magnets
Cam adjusters are not slipping when hand turning motor
indexing on reluctors through cps holes at 53 degrees appear to be centered.
code is stored but lights up CEL
oil was in harness and slightly in ECU prior to pigtails. cleaned with electrical cleaner and even vaccumed the connectors to dry to draw fluid out.

i just purchased a 4 channel oscilliscope that is arriving 8/1 to verify can overlaps on both the exhaust cams prior to any disassembly.

worried about correction factor on left exhaust being 0 degrees

This is when you need to decide what to go after...

We can assume the engine mechanicals are now in working order.

-- I think Xentry has a way of dealing (resetting/retraining) with cam correction factor perhaps your scanner does that as well.

-- I wouldn't directly blame the ECU which we know had oil soak.

-- TEST: concentrate on seeing if ECU is able to position the camshafts from idle to 2500Rpm. This will validate all 4x cam channels are functional
🤞

hooked up the oscilloscope and both exhaust cams were exactly overlapped.
position of exhaust camshaft on left cylinder bank specified value (-30.00...-17.00) was -24.92 at 620 rpm and 4.7 at 2000 rpm.
right cylinder bank was similar

GREAT!

Your test returns: all perfect & solid.
Your ECU is now able to position camshafts as dedired.

> How about this:
-- Use scanner or Xentry to retrain camshaft correction to match the favorable conditions your engine is in after repairs.

started out driving after clearing code and all seemed well until i stopped and cycled the key again. the CEL came on listing the P002500 code as stored and current. Had the scanner hooked up while driving. after a few more minutes driving scanner just listed the code as stored only. i would really like to get rid of the CEL light.
If the values are the similar on both exhaust cams, why is bank 2 only showing the stored code. Any advise?

the way this is performing hints that something from the "oil-in-harness" is likely still acting up: harness or ECU.

It works well until it doesn't... :

You can try to catch ECU unable to position camshaft.

Try to reset/retrain cam correction with scanner

installed new female pins on the connector last night as it came to me (exhaust cam solenoid bank 2 only) still dont know if the CEL will go out. will look into your recommendations. thanks for all your insight.
