ML 350 ( W166) Biggest Tire - Post Photos

Hi everyone! I’ve been looking at several of these threads, but cannot seem to find the answer I’m looking for. I plan to install a set of 20 x 9 stock rims, and I’m looking for new tire ideas for my 2014 ML BT. I’m currently on the stock 255/55/19 and they’re 29’’ high.
The tires I’m interested in are at least 1.5 inch taller than stock. I also want to go wider but taller is priority because I like the look and prefer to have more meat on my tires for comfort.
So I’m thinking of getting 285/50/20 which are 31.5 inches. I saw another post where someone said they were using 255 5520 those are 31s, but I don’t know if they’d look too much pizza cutter-ish on my ride.
There seems to be more tire options for 265/55 and 275/55, but that’s going almost 3 inches higher than stock at almost 32 inches. I don’t think I should go more than 2 inches on stock suspension.
i’m aware that larger tires will cause a odometer reading issue. Anyone using hose tire sizes on W166 platform, especially on stock rims? Please share pictures. I’ve attached a screenshot showing a range of of the tire sizes I’m interested in. Please post pictures and suggestions. Thanks!

This chart shows tire sizes and what rim sizes will fit them.

I've got 265 50 20 Falken WildPeak A/T on my ML right now, never touched a fender and the speedometer reads a solid 5% low.

That’s awesome! Do you mind sharing a picture or two? That can help me make a decision on brand. Falken WildPeak ATs is definitely a contender.Had thrm on a GX 470 and they had that aggressive look and were comfortable.

275 55 21 on the front.

Thanks for sharing. I like the way they fill up the wheel well. I ended up with 275/ 50/20 squared. I like the extra 1.8 inch of height and .5 inch of sidewall. No rubbing no issue whatsoever.

Nice! I like the stance. What offset are the wheels? I like the way they bulge out just enough, but not overly aggressive.

I don't remember the offset exactly, it might have been 44? Either way its enough to look a tad bit odd without fenders. Hence why I got the GLE style fenders.

Hi! I currently run 285/45/20 all seasons front and back on my 2014 ML Bluetec
It gives it a mean look with tires poking out at front and back
i previously had staggered 275/45/20 in the rear, and 255/45/20 in fronts but I much prefer the 285 all around look
fitment wise it looks great without tweaking, but it is VERY close to rubbing on wheel well when turning… so I believe 285 is the max you should go!
cheers

Where did you purchase the fender flares if you don’t mind me asking?
looking for my 2014 ML as I run 285. Width. Would look complimentary to the amount the tires poke!
thanks!
