S600 bought today
Hi all, I bought my first MB today. It's a 2003 S600. I really need some help.
Ive been building hot rods since I was 13. My knowledge is fairly deep when it comes to most cars. I've got my own, private shop that holds 8 cars.
Anyway, I picked up this s600 today. 68,000 miles. One owner. Clean and straight. This is my first MB.
It's going to need brakes. Any reason these brakes are any different than the hundreds of other brake jobs I've done?
This car is drastically different than anything I've owned or worked on in the past. Is a shop manual even available?
Any and all help is appreciated.
My other cars:
66 GTO
2006 GTO
2004 SRT 10
And now 2003 S600

Talk about diving in at the deep end! I presume this is a BiTurbo model, which I've also just bought. Amazing car, but quite a commitment to keep in proper order from what I can tell. Everything is complicated and expensive, and you have to take the engine out for many jobs where you wouldn't in other cars.
You can buy the Mercedes WIS DVD manuals on ebay, but take care with PC compatibility and the installation process. Its not like buying a big book.
The brakes are straightforward, but just cost more than other cars. You can get OE discs and pads from aftermarket sellers these days, if you so chose. You're not obliged to pay through the nose at a stealer any more.

many thanks. And yes, I guess I did dive in at the deep end. Pretty much the way I live my life. I've also got a 2006 GTO LS2, and a 2004 Viper Ram SRT 10 truck.
I just bought the 2012 version of EPC & WIS. It works with 64-bit systems and Window 7, which is what I use. Installation is long-winded, but its going OK so far. I got an OBD2 interface as well - no point not having one of those.
