electrical contact extractor

I am trying to remove the "speed dependant volume control lead" from the harness on the back of my Audio 10 CD head unit. I would like to EXTRACT the contact from the plastic plug housing, without damaging it. Any ideas?
Thanks
Dirk

extracting that contact requires a special 2 prong tool from the dealer. about 40 bucks. or if you can rig something yourself, it would be cheaper. you need to insert a prong on each side of the contact from the front and pull the wire back.

As always, Sunman is correct.

The attached image shows the openings that need to have a tool inserted. I usually use a very small jeweler's screwdriver, but any small probe may be inserted.

That releases the contact tangs, so the contact may be pulled out.

Highly recommend the correct tool... it is $18 for the blade and $9 for the handle. You don't really NEED the handle... but $27 isn't too bad especially if you will use the tool in the future. It takes like one second with the tool... whereas I had a tough time getting connectors out using makeshift devices (precision screwdrivers, etc.).

Of course, pricing depends on your dealer... prices posted are list.
