E55 still ticking after new lifters in place

I have just changed all my lifter in my E55 from 98 but that still dident do the problem, i still have 1 or 2 lifter on the same side ho make some ticking sound on and off. I have no idé now what to look for in order to solve the problem!!

Do anybody have any idé what stil can create this ticking? Please advice,

Thanks for your efforts,

Ako

03 E500 and Corvette
I assume you mean only a very light clicking. This is normal on some V8's and my 03 E500 has done this very lightly since new. If you have good oil pressure and a clean engine there might be a small amount of trash in the lifter. Years ago on 1960 model cars I would ad Bardal oil additive and it would clear out lifters almost immediately. There is the possiblity of carbon on the valve stem causing the valve to not fully seat by a small amount and this might cause ocassional clicking. My best guess is if you have new lifters and fresh oil to drive it a while to see if it clears up. If not try the bardal oil additive if it is still available. Best of luck. Jim

Compare your car to another...it might sound the same as the 3 valve MB engines have noisy valve trains

Does the ticking go away after warming up a few minutes? Mine did this a while back during warm up. I got rid of the ticking noise by only putting 8 quarts of oil in during my oil changes rather than 9. This puts the oil level @ about halfway up the dip stick rather than right @ the full line. My 2 cents.

The ticking start very light and then escalate too quite loudly ticking, it sounds like there is no oil in the lifter, Its mainly showing up after the car is warm and you have been on the road for time.

Had the identical problem with my 00 ML55, MB replaced lifters and rocker arms twice and ticking still was there. After the MB regional tech took the motor apart they found the noise was a result of carbon build up (despite the fact that the car never gets below 93 octane gas). MB did a carbon cleaning and the noise was gone. Still need to run techron through every 3rd or 4th tank or it comes back. Try a carbon cleaning and see if that solves it.

Enterprise rent-a-car!!!
all three valve MB engines have very noisy top ends, you cannot just change the lifter's, they are not the noise, the noise is coming from "chatter" marks on the cam's and follower's. they look like a bunch of little straight lines, on the lobe's. All the cam's have a problem in the hardening process causing them to fail after about 15K miles.
Check the lobes and make sure you are running Mobil 1 and a fleece type oil filter.

To be fair..'all the cams' is a little broad of a statement- these engines have been out since 98, and I can count the number of cams I have replaced on one hand. The AMG engines are a different animal anyway- the cams are different. I have seen lots of this issue fixed via the carbon clean that gkp1 mentioned.
I also had a 55 engine that for some reason needed 2 sets of lifters to fix the noise, couldn't see any thing wrong with the replacement set, but you could feel it in the lifter (actually it's a compensator-not a lifter) with the engine running.
