Service D?

I have a 2006 E350, US Spec, that indicates the next service is a Service D. I have had a Service A and B (the car only has 27,000 km on it). The question is: what the heck is a Service D??

Slick 350.........

I had the service "D" performed on my 2004 E-320 @ 23500 miles. The dealer checked for any recalls and performed services as applicable as well as for TSB, changed the oil, checked wipers, checked and topped off all fluids, changed the cabin filter and washed the car. I was advised thata full diagnostic scan was done to determine whether any intermittent concerns and/or trouble codes had been caputured . However, in my case there was a concern with the voltage regulator which was upgraded as well as a new battery software upgrade.

Thanks for the input and feedback! What concerned me is that is is not documented in the owners manual. Also, the sales staff were unaware of it as well.

Service D is found only on the W211 E Class sedan. You will also find E and F services required. These are broken down into certain "items". You can find which items are required by scrolling through the instrument cluster menus but it will not tell you the specifics of the "item", only the number.

So how do I scroll through the cluster menu. That's how I found service D but It won't go any further into the D item. I went to the dealer today and asked what was D.. Their answer,, "we don't know until we plug your car into the computer" Good think I live in a country that has a computer.

I went to the MB owner site and it covers A & B but not D. The Owners manual covers also A & B but not D. So I guess to get D completed I just take it to the dealer, give them a max credit card and let them do anything they want and charge any fee. Really a great way to do business. Just "Trust Me". We will do the D and let you know what it cost. Well folks that's isn't the way I was able to have the $$ to buy the E500, but it might be the last one I buy. I considered the new 07 E class diesel but if I can't get any better info than "we will find out and bill you accordingly " I might buy something else .

So is there any way to look into the car menu and find out what the "@@#$#" D really is? At least you can laugh at the icons. Have a nice day to all.

Thanks for the link to the other thread. I used the method listed and still could not get the drill down sub menu to tell what items were needed. Perhaps we will find how to get this info for the E class. Jim

In addition to konigstiger's sticky post, which is an excellent summary, this link has a presentation of FSS (and other stuff) with some nice pictures.

Regards,
Paul...

Jim,

My wife always tells me I spend too much money!!

Check out pages 18 & 21 in that pdf file. Use the "-" button to scroll down to "Confirmation" then hit that Menu Button to bring up the Confirmation menu as shown on pg 21. The "Confirm" option should already be selected so just hit the Menu button. If not, scroll again to highlight it. Also, the key should be in position 2 to do all of this.

Good luck.

Regards,
paul....

Ok Paul I dorked it up.. I found the menus and did a scroll. I found US Items 4,5,6,9,12,13 and then was looking at the confirm menu. Prior to the dork up I had Service D showing and 3500 miles remaining. While checking the confirm menu my wifey bumped my arm and I pressed confirm. OOPS. Then I checked the service again and it said Service F exceeded by 5000 miles. So I went from needing D in 3500 miles to exceeding F by 5000 miles. Is there any way I can do a "restore".. thanks Jim
