Engine Oil Dipstick

Engine Oil Dipstick

I understand Mercedes has an engine oil dipstick that is a factory service tool. I'd like to get one for my '05 E55. Anyone have the correct part number? TIA.

Check out Baum tools as you can probably get one for around $50. Baum (http://www.baumtools.com/) and AST (http://www.asttool.com/front_page.php) have a couple of MB dipstick models so match up your engine number to theirs.

Thanks for the assist. I just ordered a dipstick tool and oil filter wrench from AST. I can't imagine doing an oil change without visually confirming the oil level once the crankcase has been refilled.

I agree and I bought the dipstick so I could periodically check the oil level manually. If the electronic sensor fails, how else would we know the oil level is correct?

Here is the access point for using the dipstick on my 2003 E500 and does it have a cap that must be removed? I just ordered a dipstick from AST.

For my E320, the access is at the rear of the engine and I usually take the air box off to make it easier to move around there as space is tight. The tube does have a cap on it. The E500 is most likely the same. Good luck.
