Airmatic Issues
Received "Airmatic Warning Car is Too Low" messages yesterday when turning and going around curves. After arriving home and inspecting; Car is not bottoming out on wheels. Should car be driven to service tech or towed?
Thanks for the help.

I have been getting this same warning for about month. The frequency of alarm is increasing. I took mine to the dealer. "ran all the checks found no problems or leaks". But the alarm persist. Told them "I'll be Back". It will fail but now I will drive it to failure. You have a problem with this warning activating. The pump for the system is running too frequent. This only happens with a leak in the system. Granted not finding it does not mean it does not exist. I would suggest you schedule service on the car and at least give them the chance to tell you they could not find the problem. That is if you have warranty. If no warranty you might want to wait until failur so they don't have trouble finding the problem. Good luck.

I recently had the same message too. But, there was no malfunction code, just a red "stop vehicle, ride height too low" My rear was all the way down. I have weak batteries and i think the computer turns off the function of setting the ride height until the alternator recharges the battery > especially since it was about 0 degrees where i live overnight. After about 5 minutes, the ride height rose.
About the air leak, i think if there was one, there would be a malfunction indicator. I had one when i bought the car and i had a malfunction that said a white "air suspension malfunction". It was a faulty air hose line.

If you get the red "stop vehicle, ride hight too low" you have a problem that will most likely get worse. I got one lift (by pushing the raise button) for 3 minutes (long enough to move the car to the shop). My right front strut started to cycle up, down, up, down and air compressor ran all the time, so I shut it down, I could hear the air leak and feel it coming out of the strut around the base by the bellows. Now I am gathering information on the wonders of DC Airmatic. What I have found so far is a few part numbers,
2113205513
2113205413
found at parts.com for $759.00
The number that is on my E55s strut is
2113206313 right and has AMG markings.
More on the subject as I progress, not too happy our cars don't have bump-stops to prevent the tire from hitting the inner fender panel.

I called around to 3 MB dealers for quotes and actually went to one dealer to see the pneumatic strut in person. I am now confused as to what is what.
Dealer 1 part number 2113206313 (same # that is on my car) $935
Dealer 2 part number 2113206313 updates to 2113205438 $1110.00
Dealer 3 part number 2113205438 $1010.00 went to look at strut and it did not have any AMG markings as did my OEM strut.
I am not getting a confident feeling from the MB parts people as I was under the impression that the AMG strut was different than a standard Airmatic strut.
Am I wrong? are all Airmatic struts the same? If so parts.com will have a $759 sale.

I hope my diagnosis of my car is correct. This car is the worst car i ever owned in terms of repairs. Seems like every week its a new problem.

M211-320-63-13 HYDROPNEU 935.00 LEFT SIDE PNC A2113205338 $1100.00
M211-320-64-13 HYDROPNEU 992.25 RIGHT SIDE PNC A2113205438 $1100.00
211-320-54-38 is the correct updated strut if you are looking for the right side. The reason you are getting different numbers is because the parts catalog gives the 211-320-63-13 and for the most part people don't buy these items over the counter so the parts advisor most likely didn't take the time to check for sub numbers.

Well now I have a question, I thought I knew right from left but what dose MB consider right and left?
The front strut on the passenger side (?right?) is clearly marked 2113206313 in three places but that number updates to 2113205338 for the left side????

I got the raise car in the fss again. So this time I activated the raise button. The car raising showed in FSS and the car went up. I left it there for a few mintues then lowered it to normal. Still had the warning indicator for raise car. malfunction

vettdvr, is the car leaking down after you raise it up? Can you hear any air leaks? My problem is pretty straight forward as I can hear and feel the air leaking out of the strut. At this point I have got to get to the bottom of the left strut on the right side issue. I am away from my car now but I can't wait to check the part number on my left strut.

The vehicle should be towed in to avoid possible damage to struts or under carraige. Usually the strut tops leak and if caught early the fronts can be repaired, if driven lowered for too long can cause internal strut damage. Once the message appears the airmatic module stores a fault code indicating the failure.
