I have a 03 E500 I waz driven on the highway about 60 mph when i went into a man hole cover it wasnt hard it jus dipped into it because it lower than the road. About 5mins after the SRS light came on and said SRS Defective visit workshop. I didnt think anything of it, i would just take it to MB in the morning to get checked. About 2mins after the light came on the right side curtin airbag and right side rear door airbag deployed hitting my little brother in the face, it almost made crash too. I took the car in the morning to MB dealership and they told me they not gonna fix it because they said it had to be in accident for them to came out, mind you my car has no dents on it what so ever. They gave me a number to MB complaint line but no response yet.
Did anybody ever hear of this happening before?
I really dont know what to do if anybody has any ideas please let me know thank you for any advice.

I think the Federally mandated warranty on passive restraints is 5yr/50,000miles. If the MB complaint line doesn't take care of you, I would call your insurance company next. Your insurance MAY fix it because it should be in their best interest that your passive restraints work.
It sounds to me like there is a short (brought on by hitting something?) that triggered the airbags to deploy. They should fix the short, then fix the airbags.

Apparently this has happened more than once. This is a failure of a safety device. Consider filing a report on NTSB under highway for this failure. Only by capturing issues can the NTSB work with mfg for recalls. Too bad Toyota didn't have more reporting, perhaps there would not have been fatalities from their issues.
So consider reporting the failure. Remember you did not make it go off it malfunctioned. If it were your parachute and malfunctioned would you report it.?
