ESP not sending electric current to SPS
One day my steering suddenly became stiff. After weeks of inspections and diagnostics, it is found that ESP module does not send electric current to SPS.
Here is more info:
- Steering rack and pump are tested to be fine
- Replaced steering solenoid valve (SPS), no use
- Using Xentry to check ESP values, it is found that ESP sends only 2~4 mA of current to SPS. This value does not change when we tried to activate or deactivate it.
- Checked connectivity from the connector that plugs to ESP to the connector of SPS. Connectivity is fine.
- No error code is stored. ESP module does not have any fault code.
We checked a couple other SLs, ESP constantly sends out around 600~800 mA of current to the SPS. So mine definitely has some problems.
Would it be that my ESP is faulty? But if it is, SPS should have detected that wrong current value is sent from ESP and hence should have reported some fault codes. It seems like my PML has been coded to be disabled. This is sooo weird.
Car is 2011 SL63.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
David

hmm.. but my car was having speed sensitive steering and one day it was just gone
My ESP module was never touched. It must have the coding.
And now all the sudden it seems like the function is disabled.

That's the weird part.
No warning light, no error code.
We have used Mercedes Xentry (which launches SDS) as well as 3rd party scanner to diagnose and no error or fault code is discovered.
SDS reports that ESP supplies 2~4mA of current to solenoid valve.
