Might be going to a ML63 (2007 or 2008) from my C63...advice please

Hello all

Now that I bought a house , my 1K payment for the C63 is just not doable. I'm going to try and move to a ML63 that is pre-owned to lower my monthly payment.

I'm looking at 2007 and 2008 ML63s and know that 2007 models were the first. I rarely buy the first model year since they always have kinks to work out; however, I would like to know what you guys think about them..

I found one that is exactly what I'd want with all the options...thus I'm getting pretty serous about it. Any build/quality/warranty issues I need to be made aware of? Any commons problems on the ML63? Any issues with brakes having to be replaced too often (or the tires lie the rears on my C63)?

I'll be doing a search as well, but figured I'd see if anyone was kind enough to give me the bullet points so to speak...thanks in advance!

I love my ML63. It has 28000km on it and i have had the following problems

1) sunroof would retract several inches after closing when using the 1 touch close button - replaced under warranty
2) front airmatic suspension failed at 28000km! Replaced at no charge out of warranty
3) Engine mounts had to be replaced at 28000km - no warranty coverage
4) Electronic control module in the steering wheel which controls the gear shift buttons failed. Cannot be bought seperately and required replacement of steering wheel - no warranty coverage

As you can see there have been issues. I still love it though. Goes fast and sounds tough!

Our ML63 has been relatively trouble-free as well.
I believe they came out in Europe as the 2006 MY, so technically a 2007 would be the 2nd model year of production if I'm not mistaken.

We did also have an issue with one of the shocks failing, but that was replaced under warranty and hasn't happened again since. We're nearing 50,000 miles on ours.

Other than that and aside from a few little things, it's been pretty perfect. The tires do last a pretty long time, especially compared to the C63s... as do the brakes.

Glad to see you got those recent issues sorted for free.

I would imagine owning 4 current model AMG's would help

What did they replace in your sunroof? Mine does the same thing with the one touch close, seems to pull back

Seems like I'm going to have to make sure the dealer I buy from agrees to warranty the shocks even if the car goes out of warranty or check if they've been replaced...are the shocks Mercedes replaces the busted ones with the same unit or an updated/upgraded unit or design?

.

They said that the motor mechanism needed replacing and kindly did that for me outside of warranty. With the suspension rectified I have fallen in love with the big truck all over again, I just love it.

As far as I know its the same piece of kit, unfortunately. Only comes with a 1 year warranty.

You may have already seen this: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...8-defects.html

If I had a 6.3 or was buying one, I would be watching this closely.
