For Sale: Custom Box JL Audio 12" Subs, 750/1 Amp

Selling my sub woofers and box. All items were purchased back in July 2010.

JL HD 750/1 Amp, JL W3 12" Subs (Qty 2), Custom Box.

The custom box was made to be mounted behind the rear seat of the CLS so that it enables full access to spare tire. The carpet wrap is a good match with the trunk carpet. The fitment should be perfect for other Mercedes vehicles as well. If you have the HK7 in your ride all you need to do is remove the deck mounted subwoofer and get these bad boys and your system will absolutely rock. Price for everything is $750. Local pick up in Orange County, CA.

This should be a good fit for most any sedan C-class, E-Class, S-Class. I can take measurements if anyone needs it. I've only had the unit for a little over a year so I'm hoping to get some of my money back. I'm only selling it because I've sadly decided to part ways with my CLS55. The 12w3v3 currently goes for $180 a pop new and the JL HD 750/1 is currently $530. I paid $1,150 for the hardware: subs, custom box and amp. For anyone that wants a clean hitting sub and retain full access to their spare, this custom box provides a perfect fitment.

I imagine that it would cost at least $100 to have UPS properly package, insure and ship out to the East Coast. I'll find out what UPS will charge for shipping this weekend as other people have already requested. I am however going to stick to my price for the time being and hope that someone local is interested.

P.S. Would need to see if it fits W211 first

Edit: When you say remove, you mean physically remove the stock sub or just disconnect?

My recommendation based on this install would be to remove the stock sub all together. The Mercedes trunk has a lot of sound proofing so you need to create a port for the subs to reach the cabin. Removing the stock sub will do just that.

Before we talk final price let me find out what shipping is going to cost. I'm going to take the box and amp into a local UPS store this weekend and find out. PM me your zip code and I'll get back to you early next week.

Package Insured & Delivered to East Coast

It's going to cost approximately $140 to ship out to NJ via UPS. I imagine anywhere else on the East coast will be about the same. The box with amp weighs 77lbs and the dimensions of the box are: 37" across x 15" tall x 11" deep at the base.

I will take it as long it fits W211 though. Would you happen to know anyone with one? Also I will use my own FedEx account since I have business, it will be cheaper.

You will have to let me know if the dimensions are a good fit for your car. This box is coming out of my CLS and should be a good fit for the W211.

If you are looking at the box from the side (as a cross section) it's cut like a trapezoid allowing you to push the speaker box all the way to the back of the trunk against the rear seat panel. The base of the box is 11" deep and the top of the box is 6.25" deep. The front face (with the speakers) meets the top and bottom at 90 degree angles and the back side is cut to match the angle of the rear seat panel. I contacted Fedex and for shipping alone it's going to cost $90. To properly pack everything for safe shipment will cost about $30. They allow for declared value but they do not offer insurance coverage like UPS. So while I also use Fedex in my business it's probably better to ship UPS but it's your call. Please PM me for additional details. Thanks.

Yes those are the dimensions of the box. If you also check out my pic again, you can see the JL Amp hanging from the right of the rear deck; it's a clean installation.

Did it overpower the factory highs and mids? I just bought a cls55 and am not that impressed with the sound system.

I was in the same boat feeling very much like I needed to redo the whole system. After finding a good audio shop I was actually convinced by the owners not to redo the whole system. Our HK system is a decent interior setup and is simply missing the bass component. Just take a CD (not compressed mp3) and listen to something acoustical with the volume up but the bass turned down so it doesn't crap out. With the 12's it was a perfect setup. It really complimented the interior speakers and doesn't overpower them at all. I also swapped out the center speaker on the dash with a Hertz speaker and that completed the center stage with a noticeable difference. The center (if it hasn't already) will start crackling and will go out eventually.

There should be only one size that fits the center:

Hertz H70 - maybe W211 is different? I can't really comment because my installer did all the work.
