Welcome New Members
I'm competent at DIY and beyond. Maintenence tech on large electro-mechanical equipment and done repairs from basics to full engine and trans rebuilds. However, I have not worked on MB. So, just here to learn some prior to making my decision.
I am actually the owner of FOUR Mercedes Benz's - two that run and are driven regularly (2003 C230 Coupe Kompressor and a 1999 E320) and two that are waiting patiently to be "reborn" (1970 250C and my old gal the 1956 300C!). I was raised in a Mercedes Benz family, so I have been a Benz lover since I could open a door by myself! When I was a kid, we had a 1952 300b Convertible, that my Pop had bought used in San Francisco in the late 50's for $750. Hows that for a screaming deal? He told me at the time that most folks didn't really know what a Mercedes Benz was yet, and that it was thought of as an "odd brand", much like his Borgward Isabella that he drove at that time. Some of you may know that early Mercedes Benz's were imported by Studebaker and most of their dealerships sold both brands. I have many fond memories of the family piling in the "Big Benz" (mom drove a 1964 220 SE), Pop putting the top down and going for long Sunday rides in the hills of Sonoma and Marin Counties (where I grew up). That car was driven until the early 70's (when I was about 12 yrs old), then stored under blankets in a nice garage for the next 8 years. About a year before I finished college (studying Mechanical Engineering) and reaching the point where I was about to launch into my career and make real "adult money" and able to properly restore this old beauty, Pop sold the Big Benz without telling me (!) - when I was away at college - for measly $4,000 in 1985! Pop now in his 70's needed the money and I was still just a poor college kid UGH!. I was ill for days, as all 5 kids in my family knew I was the "car guy" of our bunch and would be the one best suited to inherit the car and get it back on the road, and keep our family heirloom in the family. And even in 1985, the car restored was worth over $100,000. I have done many car restorations before and since and can tell you this car was in such great condition this would have been a very easy restoration indeed... no rust... needed only a new top, some front end suspension work, and a valve job and a good paint job. God rest Pop's soul, this is still a very tender nerve for me and my two brothers (my two sisters didn't care much about cars). Anyway - as soon as I started making money as a Mechanical Engineer, my very first "major purchase" was my own 300... not a convertible, and in much worse condition - but it was the closest thing I was ever going to find to our old 300... so that's how I got my 300c. I have had it since 1986 and though I drove it home, it has now been parked in the old barn since. It seems that life (marriage, house, kids, divorce, real estate investments, etc.) came along and put the Big Benz on hold... I still have it "waiting' to be reborn, and I am happy to say that time is getting closer! In the mean time, I am having fun driving my C230 Coupe, my E320 (which is soon to be ugraded to an E350 - 2009 being my target year), and saving up for my AMG-GTS! The 250C? Well I hope you don't hate me, but I think I am going to put more modern engine/drivetrain/brakes on it... maybe from a "donor" E320, or E500 - as both are so cheap these days... and mount up some tastefull (bigger) wheels to give it a modern resto-mod look... stay tuned! Cheers!!!
Please feel free to introduce yourself in this section.
Enjoy!!

fellow said we need to replace a compressor & trace a leak under dash. There was not a problem before we sent to mechanic.
any ideas?
thanks in advance
I am a new member to this forum and hope to contribute as much as I have managed to learn from all of you.
With auto work-shop services becoming increasingly expensive I have fortunately some DIY sense, however by no means experienced and have gained knowledge by trial and error on calculated DIY repairs taking care to visit professional service centres for the professionals to work on.
My Mercedes is C320 W203 2001 Auto Petrol with 376 000 Kilometers on the clock.
Major problem at the moment is: Anytime start problem, she does crank but not start - the crank sensor was replaced by auto shop about 1 years ago, so am not sure if this is the problem.
I have applied the following fault finding to no avail.
- Charged Battery by trickle charge.
- Repaired broken LIVE Battery cord - perhaps joint not sufficient to amps pulled?
- Checked MAS airflow - replaced this about 3 years ago.
- Used carburettor/throttle body spray cleaner to spay in air intake as per instruction (without MAS airflow in) to alleviate EGR valve - apparently blocked/faulty according to w/shop.
- Replaced brake light switch as reportedly a problem causer
- Checked fuel avail and pressure at valve in engine compartment.
Please HELP
Regards

After so many issues with my car finally I joined MBWorld.
I’ll try to make my very long story short...
After the fifth week that I purchased my car started with a “ low coolant level “. For this issue the car vent back to Mercedes dealer 4 times. Finally the issue was fixed after replacing the water pump.
After about a month took it back for “Red Battery light” stayed on. After 3 times to the dealer the issue was resolved by replacing the battery!
Now couple of weeks ago the car “ died” in the parking lot of supermarket. Had it towed to the dealer and after 8 days in the dealer they changed the alteratior!
Two days ago the car “died” while driving for a split second and came back on with bunch of faults...
Today I’m waiting to be called to bring the car back to the shop...
My name is Nate. I currently do not drive a MB, but I am a second year intern with Daimler trucks. I have grown up around Daimler as a company and look forward to building more relationships. My internship this summer (as it was last summer) will be with Detroit Diesel. It is connected to MBRDNA at the moment, but I am not going to be car spotting per se (out of respect of privacy and time, lol). I am passionate about MB cars and motorsport, and hope to eventually gain experience in passenger car engineering down the road. If anyone is in the area (or company) and would like to meet up for lunch or anything just message me.
