Cool New GLC300 Owner! :D [looking for opinions]

Hello new friends !

My name is Phil and I just recently picked up my brand new GLC300 that I custom ordered.

It took about 5 months (was very very painful), but in the end it was so worth it.

Reason it took so long was because of my build options (the saddle brown leather sourcing was limited apparently):

- AMG body style
- Saddle brown leather
- Black ash wood trim
- Hitch
- Night trim !! (love this look)
- Navi
- 19-inch AMG twin 5-spoke (Black)
- Pano roof
- illuminated star

(I think I captured it all) I will post a pic when I get home and I can upload something.

So anyway, the exterior of my car pretty much has this sick white exterior with black trim look (so good). I had a few small ideas and wanted to get some opinions:

The front grill part where the illuminted star is, I was thinking to matte black that whole chrome/silver part. In the showroom of the dealership I went to I saw a GLE that had the black matte front grill but I can't recall if the star was illuminated or not. Will the illuminated star work if I matte black the grill? so long as the light part doesn't get sprayed?

Second, I have a friend who introduced me to this thing called Ceramic Pro-9. Basically a coating of this ceramic coating that lasts a lifetime and also includes a lifetime warranty. (they are on google if you are unfamiliar) If I have this coat applied, I wouldn't have to wax my car forever and the scratches, if ever, don't touch the paint.

Can't wait to hear everyone's feed back on this!

-Phil

2018 GLC43 (On Order)
Welcome, love the pics of the car! I just put in an order for a GLC that I am now awaiting, albeit I think it'll feel like forever until I take delivery.

1) I don't know why coating your grill would affect your illuminated star so long as you don't coat the surface of the star itself. The electronics for the star should be all within and behind the star.

2) I have had a friend apply a similar ceramic coat to his car, and the gloss it provides is tremendous. He polished it down (don't use wax) prior to applying clear bra to the car, and applied the ceramic coat on top of it all. In fact, i believe he did 2-3 coats of the ceramic. It looks great and eliminates the need to wax consistently, but it doesn't eliminate the possibility of deeper chips/scratches (rocks, etc). I will probably apply this to my GLC43 when I take delivery.

Nice! would have loved to got an AMG version if I could afford it. If you got the saddle brown interior, beware of how long it will take till you receive. Apparently that was the reason why mine took soo long.

Yeah I was thinking the same about the grill, but now I'm not sure if I wanted to do it. Might be too much.

After your comment about the ceramic coating, I think I will definitely be putting that on. I also saw that you can do ceramic coating on your seats. Have you heard of something like that? I'm looking for something I can put on my seats to protect it from possible stains. hmmm

SADLY, my car is already at the dealers shop. My first issue only after have been driving it for 2 weeks
My pano roof had an issue. I was on the highway and when I tried to close it, it would go all the way and try to sit but then pop back up leaving it open a few inches. I thought maybe there was some obstruction so I pulled over to the rest area and there was nothing visible.
I took it to the nearest dealer to where I was, they checked it out and couldn't figure it from eye sight. They ran computer tests and still couldn't find the issue. Now they have to open up my roof and see if it has something to do with the tracks. I'm hoping that the issue isn't major and she has a speedy recovery.
I wonder if this is what happens when you do a custom made car?

Same day I had a weird experience at the dealership I was at. It wasn't the dealership I purchased my car at so they wouldn't offer me a loaner car ? What was weird about that is I ended up bring my car to my dealership and when I mentioned that, they said regardless where I purchased they should be able to. as they do the same.

Hope your build comes quicker than mine was !!
