Thank you for the warm welcome. I was an active member a few years back. I owned a 2008 cls500 I changed the trans in my driveway no lift just jacks and stands. Boy do I miss that thing. So I definitely need some advice. There's a 2007 S600 that runs and drive it blows smoke out of one tailpipe and lack of power. It's in good shape about an 7. Now it sound like one of the turbos is shot. The guy wants $1000 bucks for it. Should I pull the trigger? I currently have a BMW 850I so I'm pretty comfortable working on V12s. What do you guys think. Worse come to worse I call sell it. Any input would be great. Thanks guys.

You said the magical word.. "Comfortable" thats key when taking a task under the hood.. Go for it!! Buy it!!

Ok $1000 bucks later. It has 143k on the clock. The carfax shows its been maintained by deal up until 2020. The engine runs smooth considering car had been sitting for a few years. According to carfax the last recorded milage was 138k. All the plugs were mercedes plugs in pretty good shape. Now here's what the issues are. Seller told me it was smoking and lack of power and oil pouring out of tailpipes. It had one little battery under the hood that needed to be jumped to start the car. I checked to see if the block or heads were cracked they are fine. Antifreeze level was full even after running car for a good while. He was told the the rings could be the problem. However, after inspecting the turbos, drivers turbo was full of oil. Since the engine idled better than my BMW 850i I believe it's safe to say it's the turbo causing the smoke and the oil leaking out of the tailpipes. So, my question is, do I have to drop the engine to swap out the turbos?
