Unhappy MB of Cary NC be damned!

Hello

The store I bought 4 brand new cars from, two AMG'S, has informed me they no longer want my business........because of bad language I have used in the past!!
YES, I used some bad language when the shop foreman was driving my, at the time, brand new S class backwards and into a curb......I did get upset when the wrong parts were ordered more than once......I did get upset when I received service and had to turn around and go back for something small that they forgot or messed up............
Tried to speak to my SA about this 'change key battery' business, and she wouldn't even return my email.........when I called, someone lied and said she wasn't available.......

Times I used bad language, it wasn't directed at any one person......the times I did get into heated conversations with an employee, were IMO, handled and I talked through it with them......and we worked out these instances.....
but this guy: the service manager is a real piece of work........
I'm having a hard time believing that the place I spent so much money will not let me come for warranty related work!

wow, really? I didn't know a dealership could refuse to provide warranty work on a car they sell. I would communicate with someone higher up in corporate.

Thank you, yes. I sent a mail to MB USA and see if I hear back, the man that asked me not to come back is known to make employee's cry, quit and become very upset.....when the shop foreman curbed my S class that day his reply was......"so?"

regardless, the old adage in business is "the customer is always right", if they had a problem with you it should have been handled within the company first, and then possibly arranged a friendly meeting with you to address their concerns

I would also contact the owner of the dealership

Let me guess, you act similarly in a whole lot more life circumstances than just at the car dealer.

wrong, I have not spent that much money anywhere else and feel I have the right to service despite anyone's personal feelings

MB has this "Mercedes-Benz Advisors" group website. Membership is by invitation only. On it, members can discuss their vehicles, much like we do here on mbworld. It is overseen by a few moderators. I was a member for several months, but then I was kicked off, because I offered constructive criticism of MB vehicles. It seems that if you don't fall all over yourself praising MB, then they don't want you on the site. I never used any fowl language, but perhaps I should have. All in all, I would say that MB and their dealers have a very thin skin. In your case, I would write a letter to Dieter Zetsche with a copy to MBUSA.

When people don't care there is little you can do. Take your money someplace else.

Reminds me of a billboard I saw the other day, advertising a new Tina Fey TV program. It's called "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!"

Think you'll need to go to Durham or Fayetteville since both RDU shops are owned by Leith

After giving this more thought, I think you should tell MBUSA that if the selling dealer won't service your car, then you want them to take it back and refund your money. Seems only fair.

Dam Hyper,

I would take it higher. Just be proffessional with the higher ups and they should help you out. Otherwise I would ask for my money back. I would get furious too if the clumbsy tech backed my S Class into a curb. For as high end as our cars are I would feel they should have higher standards then a wholesale car dealership.

Good luck, keep us updated.

yes, I'll more than likely end up in Durham. It's a new facility and the people there are actually pretty nice as I've met a lot of them

haha, it's a '14 with over 20K miles........sure they'd give me bottom dollar......at this point I'd fel very awkward going there again

thanks for the comment, it happened a while ago, but yes, I was standing right there when the guy did it......I thought it was strange to begin with that he was backing it out of the customer bay....the spot where we pull our cars in to do the walk around (lol) and paperwork....
they offered me a 100 bucks credit in the store for MB merch so I took it.....the scratch was small, but it was more the principle of the instance......

I am pretty sure this recommendation also has some legal basis. I don't know what the implied warranties are, and the implied covenants of good faith and fair dealing, but I would be surprised if they did not apply.

this morning I spoke to a man about an ELW for my CLS, (durham store ) we spoke around 9:30 or so, he said he'd run my VIN and mileage and email me the info.....in a few hours...and now it's past 5pm and still no info passed on........what am I think? When I inquire why the guy said he'd send me the info and never did, is that being confrontational and rude? this is one example of many that I feel like I shouldn't have to deal with while working with MB......just an example

Just to keep in mind, a dealership does have a right to refuse service for a 'justifiable' cause to protect a legitimate business interest (and profanity could qualify as such) and consequently a customer (you) also have a right to obtain service under warranty. As others suggest you need to involve the Mercedes customer service to 'arbitrate' here, good luck on a happy outcome though ...

Had a similar issue with a lifetime service denial from a local MB dealership. No bad language was involved. Still don’t know what really happened. 2 things that did not well with them: (a) I did not proceed with purchasing my S65 from them as we failed to agree on the cost, and (b) when purchasing a Lexus from a Lexus dealership, the finance lady messed up my credit report, and this caused a few legal implications. I complained about her to their upper management, without realizing that she was a girlfriend of Stefan Halata who is a GM in the MB Lynnwood. It is a small world.

MBUSA have proven themselves shockingly useless in the attempt to sort this out. See attached correspondence.

Your best bet is to forget about these morons and move on. Just make sure you tell your story on all major review sites so that your opinion gets some visibility and durability outside this forum.
