Killer rear brake upgrade for CL203- all MBZ parts.

Maybe this belongs in BRAKES- someone can move it if it does.

In building our CL203 for competition we found an all factory way to get killer rear brakes. W210 E55 AMG rear rotors and calipers bolt directly to the W203 with no modifcations- period. Heres the stats:

W203:

10 7/8" rotor diameter
3/8" thick, non vented
2 1/4" x 1 3/4" pad
1 1/4" piston diameter

W210 AMG:

11 3/4" rotor diameter
7/8" thick, vented
2 3/8" x 2" pad
1 3/4" piston diameter

Buying the factory parts will cost you $1000 for everything- not quite as cool as a floating tuner brake set, but a nice alternative.

Yes- I thought so too. It happened by accident. We were removing the stock brakes to fit our brakes and we happened across a customers stock brakes from an upgrade, voila- perfect fit.

You see between name calling, throwing mud, making lies and generally being arrogant pains in the A*% we actually contribute to the forums knowledge base. Holy cow- theres nothing to sell in this thread!

E 55 Brakes

Great to see the Big 55 Rear Brakes fit the coupe! So How does It Stop Now?Have You had a chance to do some testing with it done?Any Clearance Problems?

BTW How does the Parking brake Work?..On My W210 its SHOES inside the rear rotors..and The C Coupe uses the same set up?Is The E55 Different than the Other W210s?
I Do Not Use My Parking Brake..But some people with a Stick Might need The Parking brake ..

Mark--

The E55 W210 rears bolt right on- no mods at all, perfect fit. Clearence is fine, even with 17" wheels (16"s to I suppose but who uses them?).

The C230 Coupe does not have "SAAB" style parking brakes but the same mechanism as on all post 99 MBZ- internal shoes like the W210. All of it still works as standard.

PS- Send me that IC info will ya?

Hey nice Brandon, thank you for this. I've hated the look of of the tiny rear rotor since day one.

Could you give us a parts list, numbers? Thank you KLEEMANN.

I never understand this- EPC is easy to use if you know what you are doing. Using a VIN will only bring up the parts for THAT car. I guess it helps illiminate ordering the wrong parts for the thinking impared. Using it by model gives you too many options (LOL)

Sorry for going off topic, but my dealer couldn't even order the amg parts for my coupe. He couldn't find them??? I went in with the part #s and he informed me that he could only find the parts for the w203 and they wouldn't fit the cl203. Hey, thanks slick! Really!

Thanks for posting the numbers and everything. C32 brakes up front, E55's in the back, should be interesting. I'll have to save up for Brembos eventually.

While you're at it, is there a way to run cooling ducts to the front rotors?
Do you think cooling would be required/ help? (not for street use)
What brakes are you running up front (KLEEMANN's)?

Thanks again!
