List Of Fastest Cars
...........This site has specs from over 400 cars. Though performance junkies might like it. The fastest mercedes according to them is the CL65.

Looks like the fastest Mercedes on thier list is the 2003 Mercedes CL55 AMG.

1996 C220
Ones that I noticed was:

1973 Corvette 454 top speed 111 mph

My C220 tops out at 119 mph with a governor! No way that 'vette was that slow! That was pre-catalytic converters as well!

Others

1970 Camaro Z-28 350 top speed 120 mph
1970 Corvette LT-1 350 120 mph
1969 Super Bee 440 117 mph

just to name a few.

egh i dont want to go back and look again, i believe the 2003 E55 was listed twice with horribly different 0-60 times

The numbers are very close depending on gear and engine options. LS5 454 had a low redline like 52-5500. With 3.55 gears and no overdrive, 111 MPH is about right. My '66 L79 (327/350HP) with the same gears is still pulling hard when it hits 130MPH and redline at 6000RPM. Too bad they didn't make 5 speeds back then.

4.5 vs. 4.3 horribly different? The same car, driver, day and track can produce times this far off.

The list looks like it is compiled from a bunch of different sources. Three are probably more duplicates.

What about the 3 RennTech's listed before the CL55? The E7.4 does 208mph!!

Looks like the fastest Mercedes on thier list is the 2003 Mercedes CL55 AMG.

I have a 2003 S55 and it is every bit as quick as an acquaintence's CL55. We've done the stop light routine many times and the end results are a push. Same weights, same power etc.. I've tried an E55 and it is quicker. The SL55 seems a little quicker, because of its lower ratio rear end but now that much quicker. They are all great cars and fuuuun to drive
