Anyone with aftermarket or no cats on supercharged V8?
We are going to go with a 4" exhaust with a 4" resonator and 4" race muffler after the cats.
Does anyone have any knowledge about gains with changing or removing the cats on a supercharged MB?
Thanks.
If you remove the 1st set of cats then I would think you will see a CEL.
As for Mercedes cats, I think they are OK but not great, there are better Metallic cats out there that will yield more Hp.

I pretty much decided to just go 3.5" after the cats with a straight through 3.5" inlet/outlet Magnaflow muffler.
I am leaving the stock cats in. I also do not want to swap in the cats every year for inspections.
I figure on a supercharged car, bumping from a 3" to a 3.5" will help.
I will keep you posted.
Thanks for the responses.

I also replaced the 2nd set of cats later on on that also helped out. Total backpressure from the stock cats back to the tail pipe was 4.5psi and with the new cats it's 2.5psi. Power output climbs nicely with the lower backpressure.
Your engine gets all the backpressure it needs and then some from the 1st set of cats.

This is true for naturally aspirated engines as it is important for the exhaust to be tuned correctly, however for turbo or supercharged engines for that matter generally the larger the diameter the greater the gains
