Neg. Used CPO R350 Deal

Hi All,

I have a question in regards to negotiating a deal on a used CPO 2008 R350. There are a few dealers in my area that have 2008 CPO for $32,888 to $34,999. Each is with P1 and has a range of miles from 14,000 to 22,000. It appears that for a 2006 model CPO with 20 to 30K that you could get it for $25,000, or possibly even less. The question is, what kind of deal do you think I could swing on the 2008 models in question? I noticed earlier on this site that people were talking about a $15K incentive for the month of November, and possibly a $10K for the month of December. However, that doesn’t likely apply to the CPO’s, even if they are 2008 models. Suggestions?

$48-$15=$33. There is the deal for a base model. With P1, it's a little better, and P2 even better if you can find 'em.

I've seen a CPO '06 w/ roughly 21k miles go out the door for $26 (in the ball park, since I don't remember exact number), and it was P1 I believe.

I had a deal on a '08 (P2) brand new going out the door here in Dallas for $35k, but I have since decided to hunt my white elephant, the almight R63. The deals are there to be had. You just have to be prepared to move quickly and walk away if necessary.

I would say getting $30-32 out the door for the 14k miles would be a great deal. Getting them to throw in the extended warranty would be even better.

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if $28K for the 2008 CPO with 14K would be pushing it too much. Can't hurt to ask. What do you think?

Yeah, I think $28k might be pushing a little too far, but you may want to try at $30-$31, and they should at least think about dealing.

I mean you can try, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Let us know how it goes...

Just for clarification. When you say $30-$31K, you are just referring to the price of the car itself not including fees (tax, title, etc.)? The price out the door can vary from state to state. Here in CA the sales tax is 7.75%whereas in other states there isn't any. Also, registration is based on the price of the car CA. That isn't the way it is in PA where there is a flat fee regardless of the car's value. I appreciate your input. I want to swing a good deal, but on the other hand I don't want to go into the manager's office with a outrageous offer. Don't want to appear as a bottom feeder, however a little hard ball is a different matter. After all, the economy is on my side in this matter.

I think 28k is a little too aggressive. If they are asking 33-36k, then see if they bite at about 30-33k.

3k is aggressive enough, but not just plain insane! lol

I have a 07, and the lease is up in June of 09, I'll be searching for a 08 CPO myself, so let me know what they end up taking.

P.S. - takes and license/registration are a given, so I'd just grind them as best as you can on the price of the car itself.

Good luck!

Yes, I meant just the car itself, not total out the door. That would be too much...well, I mean I guess you could ask, but expect the deal to be either done or dead right then and there. LOL.

Yes, technically it's an '05, but the warranty and the VIN say '06, and BMW is backing the warranty as such, so that's how I view it, but you are correct in that the 745i was discontinued AFTER '05.

I just purchased a 2006 r350 with 21500 miles for 20,700 plus tax not CPO. Silver with black interior . It does not have the pan roof or navigation. It does have heated seats etc. original sticker was 52500.
It is in great condition I mean 21500 how bad could it be, I di not think they are broken in until at least 50k. What do you think of the deal???

Not a bad deal bcinerie. Most dealers in So-Cal are asking for $25-30K for a similar model CPO. I am still searching for my '08, but gradually getting closer to a deal. A friend of mine is also searching for the same car, however he wants his new. We got an offer today from a local dealer for two NEW '08 R350's w/ P1 Black/Black for $37K. Not a bad deal. They told us if we were to buy together they could toss in the Bluetooth. The cars are not on their lot, but up in Northern Cal. This leads me to believe that I can swing an even better deal on my own if I go to a dealer with the cars already on their lot. The local dealership is acting as a middle man and therefore increasing the price. So, I contacted a dealer up in the Bay Area with a similarly equip. model and they were VERY eager to negotiate. Further, they had a model with a better color combo.

My original plan was to buy a CPO, but now with this deal in the wings it has somewhat changed my mind. The local dealers are asking $35-37 K for used '08 CPO's, when I can get new for the same price. Certainly I can get them to knock off several thousand for the used status, but it isn't that big of a difference. At best they will likely go to $30-33K.

Now that you mention it, bcinerie just got a '06 for a little over $20k. If CPO w/ nav and parktronic you are looking at $25K. Saving over $10K is a chunk of change over an '08. It's a tough decision.

In talking to the dealer, they mention that the sale is over Jan 2nd. I believe that is in regards to the 3.9% APR. However, what rebates are going on with the 08 R350's? If so, which I believe there are, when do they end and what are the rebates. Respond soon. I would like to get this over with. On the other hand, sadistically, I do enjoy shopping for a car.

Red face

It is funny, I like pulling the trigger but I always have buyers remorse, Did I get the best deal or shouldI have done better???

I started looking gain and found another 2006 r350 that is the same car as mine with 26.5 k miles for $20195. 500 dolars cheaper then mine!!! The only reason I bought mine off a used lot is I talked to the previous owner and they had no problems at all and I found all the MB service for oil changes etc.

I do have a question, what type of service should I do at 22k??? I was going to change oil and air filter for piece of mind, but is there anyhting else??

Also I am 40 minutes west of cleveland Ohio!!!

We bought a CPO 2006 R350 with 25K for $26K. It's loaded expect airmatic and keyless-Go. We also get extended warranty til 2013. I did found several less expensive ones, but not with options we want. we do not want airmatic since it can be a major repair if warranty runs out. we must have comfort package (memory seats), parking sensor, and paramic roof, power lift gate, heated seats, and NAV. The most critical is that we want White color.

So far, no regret. The heated back seat with "real" 3-zone a/c just become very useful lately with the cold weather. My son and my wife sits in back seats and this is the first time they can enjoy the heated seats in second row seats.

By the way, MB service has been great so far. We bought the car in for sticky switch and minor complaint of road noise. They replaced new steering column, left front axel, and moon-roof switches all under warranty. This really puts assurance that CPO really worth the extra couple hundred/thousand dollars in long run.

There are not a lot of '08 CPO's on the market in either the Bay Area or So Cal. It appears that the price at wich the 08 CPO's are selling at are around $32K with either the P1 or P2 package. Prob. more with rear entertainment system. I have been following the sales fairly closely and it seems like that is the price at which people bite. There are three CPO's in So. Cal but their price point is too high. Further, you may want to look into buying a new 08. Negotaiated a deal down to $37.8K on a new black R350 w/ P1. Almost did it but willing to save another $5-6K for a used one with 10K miles. Futher, based on sales data from December, it looks like things are fairly bad for them. MB just extended their deals till the end of the month.

These prices just keep getting more and more depressing. I'm happy that you guys are getting great deals, but this means my 2006 R500 Saks Edition is worth just a little bit more than a ham sandwich.

Not here. Bought it as a 3900 mile demo car. Embarrassed to say what I paid, plus I put 25 grand down in cash. All that is gone after 1 year.

Gonna go slit my wrist now. Tell the original poster I said "Thanks"

The deal was at Silver Star in Thousand Oaks, CA. The didn't have the car on the lot, but were willing to get it to me for that price. The car was located in Chico. I do not know what the dealer incentives are for the 09's at this time. You can find out what the incentives for the dealership by contacting consumer reports. I would guess 10-15K off MSRP. Another viable option is to use a auto broker. If in the Bay Area, Hammer Auto will do the negotiation for you and give you the best deal. I haven't used them before, but I know of others that have and were satisfied with the results. If you want a really good deal try to negotiate a deal on a new 08! They are desperate to get them off their lot. It will save you at least several thousand less than a similar 09.

P.S. the $37.8K for the new 08 was w/o tax, doc., and DMV. If in CA, if I recall correctly, the DMV was around $278. The doc. was 87 bucks. The sales tax can vary by county.
