Extended Warranty

Have you purchased an Ext. Warranty recently? If so which one and are you happy with it?

I have Chrysler extended warranty and cannot really tell am I happy or not since I have not used the service yet. I will do a search in mbworld on "extended warranty" including non R's. You should be able to see a lot of comments on it.

I recently bought the Chrysler warranty for ny S55 and it has been GOLD! It is a bumper to bumper and they have already paid out over 4k without a wimper on a policy I bought for $2700. They accept either the dealer or my independent shop's word and pay them promptly. I am getting raeady to put the same policy on the R myself as I have decided to keep it a few more years.

That said, "going naked" is probably much less a risl on the R thna it was on my S55. However, it only takes one "aw ****" to pay back a warranty on these cars. I think the last time I checked I was also looking at about $2700 to cover the R for 2 years or 100k miles. Highly recommended (no affiliation, as a matter of fact they have to be hating my S about now!)

Zachmac,

I followed up on the Chrysler Extended Warranty based on another post on the subject. What I got back from my inquiry was just an ad with no way to apply or to follow up with a live person. Do you have useful contact info for this product?

Best bet is to just walk into the nearest Chrysler dealer and ask to see the guy who sells warranites. If your car is out of factory warranty they are going to have to inspect it anyway.

JR,
Contact Michael Case: http://michaelcase.wordpress.com/

If you search this forum, you will see a lot of feedback about Michael Case. I will not go to the Chrysler dealer to ask for extended warranty because they will charge you a lot more than Michael with the same exact contract.

Really? I paid $2700 for two years unlimited milage bumper to bumper contract on my S55. I doubt anyong would have done it much cheaper than that. I got the same price quoted on the 2006 R350 with 68k miles. I'll check with you Mr. Case but I think it all comes down to your negotiation skills. Yes they might quote you full retail just like MB dealers do on cars; THEN you start negotiating!

I paid about $400 less than yours for my 5 years/70K with $200 deductiable from Michael for the R last September. I could opt for 4 years/unlimited with $200 ded for the same price but since I don't drive much, the 5 years work better for me.

Btw, the price has gone up $500 since last October. Good luck.

Supersnx,

Not to further highjack this thread but I think you may have confirmed what I said. If you paid $400 less than a quote I got a week or so ago and by your admission the price has gone up $500 then I guess my local dealer is pretty reasonable? As far as my having paid that SAME price for my S55 longer ago, that simply cannot be compared to a quoe on a newer R classs. Plus you have to be talking about similar mileage cars to compare apples to apples (you didn't state what miles you had at warranty time)?

To get back on topic, in any case there are two points here:

The Chrysler warranty is a proven good value that provides real coverage with minimal to no hassles AND you should always shop on these items as people will negotiate. Remember, just like the stickers on cars, there is retail and then there is the real price where the dealer still makes money. Most Chrysler dealers are more than willing to get to the lower number these days.

FORD extended service plan for Mercedes

I am thinking of buying extended warranty too for my 2006 R500.

I went to a local chrysler dealer and the manager said chrysler no longer offers extended warranties for Mercedes vehicles since mercedes is no longer part of chrysler. He said he can offer FORD Extended server plan (ESP) for mercedes with a cost of $3000 for 48Kminles/4 years. ANy one bought FORD extended service plan for mercedes and/or is it worth it? The brochure listed what is covered and what is not covered.

I have to yet ask my local MB dealer for a price quote ( I know it will be higher )

TIA
