Roof rack basic carrier
Anyone out there have a basic unit (mounts and cross bars) they want to sell?
I am looking for an OEM Mercedes unit.

Stick with the OEM, they are everything that a Mercedes is supposed to be.
There's probably a reason you can't find too many OEM, because they work so well that nobody gets rid of them.
I didn't find the price of a new roof rack & medium box to be too bad in price. And, when I got it home - everything fit perfectly !!
Thule is a good product, but they keep saying it's just as good as OEM. That doesn't cut it in my book. If Thule was just as good, the dealers would carry them too.

I have posted on this question before, having had both OEM [made by thule btw; so much for "everything that a Mercedes is supposed to be" !] and the thule. i sold the OEM rack because i found that the thule is far more useful because you are not limited to the relatively narrow span of the OEM rack. my packasport pod would not even fit on the OEM rack w/o resting on the plastic end caps which are not load bearing. the other advantages to the thule setup, which mounts just as the OEM rack mounts, is that it sits slightly lower than the OEM rack producing inherently less wind noise, and you can use longer bars for wider loads such as a ski rack and pod. finally, you can use the thule wind fairing which cuts rack noise even further...

Back on topic - does anyone know specifics about the MB cargo box? How big is it?

Had 2 Q7s. First one was 3.6 V-6, new one 3.0 - Supercharged. Q is quieter and both versions accelerate better, but especially so for the 2011 model. The R sits lower and has more legroom in rows 2 and 3 compared to Q. So, for the driver, the Q wins, for passenger space - the R wins. Also, the COMAND electronics in the MB are an embarrassment compared to the Audi MMi 3G.

I got similar question this year and I bought Thule - aero bars + box. The size of box depends on your needs. As for bars, I'd advise buy aero bars and it could fit a few different cars.
