'96 S320 door noise

'96 S320 door noise
I have a '96 S320, when the drivers door is opened it makes a snapping or clicking type noise. Looking at a parts diagram it looks like there is some sort of Plate or something in the door panal that may have something to do with it. My quess just worn out catch or something. Before digging into it do you think this is the problem or is it something else? Thanks

hey guys, i think i may have this same problem. does your door also make noise while driving? I'm getting a lot of rattle from my passenger side door as im driving down the road, like metal on metal contact. and my drivers side door makes a rattle when i close it as well. thanks in advance for your help.

OmeyHomey , On mine someone told me to try tightening the two bolts that attach the Door check strap. I thightened them and the noise went away. Give it a try I was glad I did.

excellent, do i just have to take the door panel off or what? any basic instructions? thanks again

OmeyHomey, check out the photo above in post. See the two nuts welded on the mid point of the door strap? the two bolt that are on the door where the strap goes into door are the ones you tighten. No removal of the door panel is needed, unless you end up needing to replace the door strap. Good luck.

I did this last fall, however, the door is starting to click again quietly as I expected.
