Newbie to the W140
Hey Guys just would like to tell everyone that I have become one of the elite W140 Member's my last Benz wa sin 99 and it was a 84 380se Green! Ulgy and didnt even have leather..but No wthis time its different! I now bought a 94 S500 the Pretty Green with Tan Leather and all the toys! looks awesome with minor scratches that are beening taken out by a paint shop,only 77k paid $14,500 (6k back of book) were dealers and get the discount!anyhow i hope i enjoy my benz as much as you guys say you do!! tel lthe next epsiode!

Thanks guys for the warm warm welcome to the "Family".
I planning on buying a set of AMG's and put 30% tint on my car.
5% tint is on my riv,but i think on a benz it needs to stay a little bit lighter,only thing wrong with it is the front two motorized headrest are not working,but going to get that fixed 1st thing,other then that everything works.hope to post pics or make a web-page so i can show you guys my car,please feel free to post pics of your car!

I have 18" amg monoblocks...thats a popular set of wheels among w140 owners....
The tint on my car is 20%, its not too dark, or too light, seems to be perfect. Some prefer not to tint there car, its a personal preference. I know in some states there are certain legal requirements, like you cant tint the front windows etc... ( i am in wisconsin, and the tint requirements is 50% front, 35% back) but i havent had any problems with 20s.
If your looking for some pictures, i tend to frequent benzworld forums then these forums , and they have pictures there of w140s in their galleries. www.benzworld.org

Thats great regarding painting the bottom the same color (black). It gives it more of a clean look in my opinion.
I am sorry about your emblem. i havent experienced a stolen emblem yet. Maybe because chicago is more urbanized, then wisconsin. I know the 92 500sel i just bought for re-sale has the emblem gone, and its from chicago. So your putting the flat emblem because your fed up with people taking the normal one, or you like it?
Yeah, my car probably looks like a twin of yours after i copied some of your mod i.e: black, amg monoblocks with conti tires, clear lights, and grill. I know your not into tinting, specially with the tint laws in IL, but it makes the car look sharper (just a slight tint, not the dark kind).
A question for you.. i think i recall you saying you take off your 18" mono's in the winter? Is it because of the salt and snow?
I have stock tires and wheels, and i am thinking it might be better for the winter to use them?

Hi ghost,
I looked at the hood and i think i would stick with the 3 point star. Reason being, the flat emblem is too small to balance the looks with the rest of the majestic size of the vehicle.
I am considering tints. In IL, they dont allow front windows to be tinted and i think without getting front, rear dosent look good. Also about the wheels, yes i took them off for 6 months and they are back on her again. I clean my car myself and dont let anyone else touch her. So, i cant clean the wheels during winters months when its -30 windchill outside. Plus the salt will destroy the finish.
I will post pics, i am waiting for a 60 degree day to do my yearly wax on her.
