1995 S600 Coupe
I am seriously considering the purchase of a 1995 S600 Coupe with just under 26,000 miles. As you would expect with these miles, the car is in beautiful condition. It is a European import with a clean and clear Florida title. Performance of this car is unbelievable.
I have two questions:
1) What do you think this car might be worth in the open market, and also trade in value?
2) I know when it was imported in 2000, it had to go to an importer and be brought to USA specifications to receive a valid Florida title. Does anyone know where I could write to in order to acquire a copy of these importation documents? They seem to have been lost during the past by the previous owners.
Thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.

That year 140 had a lot of expensive gremlins like main wiring harness, A/C evaporator, closing assist pump, window regulators, A/C blower motor regulators. The 12 bangers are very expensive to maintain otherwise as well from what I have read - not a lot of competent mechanics that know how to work on them. Now add in the modifications that had to be made to conform to US market. If you are looking to own for yourself, I would find a mechanic first and have him check it over. This would be the mechanic that would maintain it for you if you can't tackle a problem yourself so be sure he is confident he can work on it. Last thing you want is to buy the car and find mechanic after mechanic just scratching their head when they pop the hood.

1995 S 500 Coupe
I recently saw a 1995 S600 Coupe for sale.. it had 109,000 km on it and the dealership in Vancouver BC was asking for $51,000 Canadian for it.
It is a V12 so the tune up costs would probably be outrageous. Just imagine replacing all those spark plugs... I think it also has two distriputors.
I own a 1995 S500 Coupe... I compared the two cars... mine has alot more options it in, but body style is almost identical.
Good luck with your decision.

I looked at a cl600 for quite a while before opting for the V8 version. (CL500).
I heard quite a few horror stories of the costs involved at doing service on the V12. Its a beautiful machine but hard to work on because of the cramped engine space, necessitating the removal of componenets to access others. Thus labor costs are much higher.
I also heard of the problems with the 1995 models. I found a fully optioned CL500 and love it. I bought a 99...it was the last year for the 140 coupe....all the bugs worked out by then.
I looked at a Canadian CL600. The gray market cars are hard to resell and they don't bring much on resale.....so you might find one for 10-20K less than a US model.Happy hunting.

I have a 1995 S600 coupe. My partner bought it new in Belgium. I imported it in 1999. Converted by JK Motorcars in Baltimore. Now has 90,000 miles with no major issues. I have a good independent mechanic. Wonderful car.

The car was in showroom condition with every record, so I think it brought what it deserved.
