I hear the MB has issued a huge recall, mabe 1.3 million vehicles. Anyone know where an owner can check out his vehicle?

Thanks

Recall Info

March 31 (Bloomberg) -- DaimlerChrysler AG, the world's biggest maker of luxury cars, is recalling 1.3 million Mercedes- Benz brand models worldwide to fix electrical and braking-system faults, marking another blow to the brand's quality reputation.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLS-Class cars built between January 2002 and January 2005 will have battery-control software replaced to enhance the on-board power supply, and E-Class, SL- Class and CLS models built from June 2001 until this month will receive updated braking systems, Stuttgart, Germany-based DaimlerChrysler said in an e-mailed statement today.

good for you. look on the forum and see how lucky you are. the current s class is an abomination. cannot hold a candle to the great s of the eighties. those cars define the true mercedes legend. the current ones are weak comparatively.

I must be one of the lucky one too. I have never had my S in for service. Probably a mistake to even write these words...

Other than some early lamps that went out unexpectedly my S class has been reliable for the first 6700 miles. On the other hand I know someone with a new S who has had nothing but problems. Luck of the draw.

The point is that when you spend 80 - 100 K, or more, on a car the quality shouldn't be a crap shoot. The Japanese have much better quality control and there is no reason we should expect less from MB.

This seems to be a trend here. MY S class doesn't give me problems either. Just simple stuff. Nothing major.

See I believed that too, and last year I bought an Acura TL, the new model. L-E-M-O-N .. Came back to MB running with the tails between my legs. Should never have left. Here at least you have great service, consistent. There are problems , yes, but service compensates for it. I also have a Corvete C6, and man, isn't GM service horrible. Take the car in for service, get a FORD focus for loaner, from a GM dealer??? Again, love MB....

I made also mistake buying Lexus, too many problems after. I have feeling that people who tell about amazing reliabilty of Japanese cars never own them.
