I may stand corrected on this but to my best knowledge, the glass (side, rear and windshield) should be the same for S500 and S600.

It's not odd. The S430, 500 & 600 all come from the W220 chasis. Everything is the same dimensions when it comes to the chasis. The only difference is the engine, seats, and afew other options. All the W220 comes standard with the laminated windows. Some have the bluish tint while others dont.

maybe the article that you read was comparing the s600 to a short wheelbase s500? if this is the case, then the rear windows are a little bit longer on the s600.

they do not have short wheelbase s500 in the US but you can find them in europe and asia.

I have asked; this is the answer:
The thisckness is the same.
The old body style (1990 - 1999) had double thick windows.

They are all the same. All have double thickness windows laminated together.
Roll one of your windows half way down and look at the thickness. You'll see two panes stuck together.

The older S-class (W140) side windows were actually thicker. Maybe not the glass itself, but the thickness of the window for sure. This was due to the fact that the old one had a spacer and gas-filled core, similar to windows in homes. The windows on the w220 are simply two panes glued together...
