I-POD Aux in

Hi, I want to listen to my i-pod in S500 W220/2002 . I don't have the command com and have no idea if I can have an aux-in in my car. I use the fm transmitter and it kills me! The dealer wasn't helpful at all. What I was told was those models' were not built for an I-pod.
Thanks

If you do have an aux in, it should be in the glove box.
Look for the input jack on the left side.

I think the 02s dont have a aux in though.

Aux in for an Ipod S 500 W220 2002

Thanks, But I don't have the command module in the car. I have the cassette player with surround system and the hands free phone and the cd changer (which also cannot play mp3) in the trunk.
Do you think that I can find an aux in behind the tape and phone unit If I manage to take it out?

You are saying that the 03+ comand has a cable behind it but you need to put it out yourself and install it in the "pop out" on the left side of the glove box?

Is there a link to how anyone has done this?

I have never heard of an AUX in behind the comand unit in 00-02 S class vehicles.
Could you detail the procedure or post a diagram?

The ONLY S-class that can utilize an AUX cable is an S Class with a soft AUX key. That is NOT 04-06.. OR 00-02 so perhaps 03? I don't know for sure. stop passing bad information if you don't know for sure. That's the dealers job.

I have a plug over on the left side of the glove box. When pulled out it's just an open hole. Seems it must be there for some reason, no?

I have a 2001 S430. No Aux Port and no option for one. I dont think these cars were built for one. I searched for hours on this topic.
There are two options. 1. Spend $300 for a fiber to aux convertor or 2. Buy a installable FM Transmitter from Cruthfield for $60....I had one in my previous car and they work pretty well.....I plan of removing the phone handset and installing the IPOD there....

If you have a little knowledge in electronics you can do this yourself. Buy this cable from MB, remove your front passenger door seals and if you have a port to plug this connector you are set. If you dont see that port then you have to remove your radio (command), look for port C1 & C2 and connect this cable to that and you are set. If what I just said doesnt make sense to you then you dont have the skills to hook this up. If it does then you may be able to attempt this hook up.

Don't be offended. My Washer Hero... I'm just stating thatthe Aux in application it's not consistent with the S-class cars and I know for sure the MOST/DVD (04-06) versions don't have a soft key for AUX so there is no Aux input capability.

IF it is on some cars and not others, then which? I know that it can be installed on any S class or any MB car for that matter as long as you have the soft key AUX on your comand. But which cars have the Soft AUX key? Find that out, and then then we all have the answer to the original poster question.

Otherwise, everyone gets confused and this thread gets like other threads that are 5 pages long with people inquiring about and application that doesn't apply to their car.
